I've recently moved to Leucadia from Vail, Colorado, and I'm stoked to get out on my SUP and do some fishing. I'm an experienced freshwater fisherman but don't have any experience with ocean or SUP fishing

I don't think it would be wise for me to paddle out to the kelp beds alone.

Anybody out there willing to let me tag along or want to join me for some outings? Or anyone know of a group in San Diego that I could join?

Wish I could North County SD is one of my favorite places I have a favorite paddle (and surf) from Cardiff Reef to the other side of Swami's and back
Absolutely my favorite I paddle back along the inside edge of the kelp very pretty (assuming good water clarity)

Enjoy your time there Lots of Fun there

Check for the Marine Protected Areas in SoCal.

It's kinda of confusing.  I thought they closed fishing down from Seaside to Swamis, but I've seen people fishing on the beach lately.  I asked one guy and he said that you could fish from the beach now, but not out by the kelp beds.

LJ shores is a popular spot to launch, but you need to go 100 yards past the yellow bouys or something like that.

I started building a milk crate fishing rig for my Coastal Crusier, but I don't have my license for 2014 yet.  I've only fished off my SUP in Mission Bay.  I'll go out with you when I get my '14 license.

Right on. I'm about to get my '14 license as well -- within about the next 2 weeks. I'd be happy to paddle out with you if you're looking for someone to join you.

Hi,  I'm in Carlsbad and have been Sup fishing for 5+ years now.  Actually I Sup fish, but lately I've gone back to fishing off my longboard.  Send me a pm and I'll fish with you sometime.
