Quickblade V-drive- beautiful new paddles
« on: February 05, 2014, 12:33:56 PM »
We just got a shipment of Quickblade paddles including the new V-drive paddle.   Quickblade once again set a new standard in performance paddles, not only with the innovative blade design but also in how the blade, shaft and handle are assembled, very cool.  I'm attaching some pictures and we will post a video review soon.

and video about the new blade design:

Thanks for the pictures, Robert.  Paddle looks really interesting and curious to see your video review.  What is the pricing on these paddles?

Kojak,
They are pricey: $499 for the straight shaft (two different diameters available), +$60 for the oval tapered shaft.

You can only get them through your local QB dealer, for pricing and options visit:

Yes that is pricey but I really like the optionality with the different shaft choices.  Look forward to trying one out when we get winter.  We are getting hammered with a winter storm here in the northeast.

$499?! holy cra.... expensive is right.  but it's because you have a built in heart rate monitor, upload cadence data to facebook, and order pizza all in one right?!   really eager to hear reviews about this one, yowza

Dave is the man.  i paddled with him at a one day Kalama Kamp.  it was a great experience.  All stoke, no attitude.

Are these similar to the Neil Pryde paddles With the V-dihedral?

I found it similar to this one too. I don't know who's this is, I took this picture on a visit to China about 3 years ago.

It's an interesting design. Only so many things you can do to a paddle. It actually looks a lot like the wing paddle I was working on a couple of years ago, though in that case the V was on the back side, intending to create some lift without generating flutter. It was as close as I came to making that design work.

Congratulations to those guys for continuing to innovate, to continue making such high quality paddles (the finish looks awesome) and to market well. I look forward to trying one. Maybe at the BOP, or maybe I can get Dave to let me try one--I assume he's got a couple.

I've heard good things about the new QuickBlade V- drive paddle. Jimmy's been making paddles for a while now. I'm confident he knows what he's doing! Lookin forward to trying one soon.

The new Trifecta blade looks amazing as well, it's a design that Jim Terrell and Travis Grant developed.  Here is the video Quickblade just released:

Seems like they could get the weave straight for $499.

I looked at Dave's a few days ago. Very nice paddle, feels extremely light. I like the extreme taper of the shaft. Must be a bit of a bitch to make. Handle attachment is odd, but it must be done at the factory--I doubt they could leave it to the users and still have strength and precision. It appears that length adjustment and cutting is on the blade end. I assume some of the shaft at the blade end is untapered to enable good fit.

Nicely done, beautifully finished, and undoubtedly expensive to build. Whether or not it's worth that kind of money is a choice only an individual can make. I have no difficulty remembering people telling me that a Ke Nalu at $300 was absurd.
