That is such a nice cut back and paddle gouge!

I try to do those weak side paddle turn cutbacks (or whatever they are called?) whenever I can.  I'm really surprised more sup surfers don't do those kind of turns.  It seems to pull the board around faster without loosing speed.  Plus it looks really cool :D

I do them all the time--in my head. I'm pretty sure it's the goPro that turns them into weenie little wiggle waggles.

The SUP kook abomination is a plague on the House of the Ocean!

Every time the surfcam catches me, I look like a numb nuts.  Maybe that's because I'm a numb nuts.

That's a typical Saturday morning at Cardiff Reef.
When it's bigger, the heard will thin.
I try not to surf there as much anymore.
But even with that crowd, which was more than 9 Sups, I got my wave quota. :p
I always look really pissed off, for some reason.

Love the new camera angle looking north from the restaurants.

And I agree that in spite of the numbers it's not hard to get waves there for some reason.

The way the waves hit the bowl of the rivermouth and the sandbars on each side makes for a lot of rideable swell in both directions on both sides. I always get plenty of waves there even when the center is choked with longboarders elbowing each other. I like how the longboarders surf there--lots of them are really good, and they call out waves to each other. It's a nice vibe to be around even as an intruder. One of the most civilized places I've ever surfed, even though a few of the guys really hate SUPs. No matter, they don't need to talk to me as long as they aren't dicks about me poaching the occasional wave in the middle. And they aren't.

I was particularly impressed by one of the women surfing there--slender lady, indeterminate age because her skin was sun-blasted like any dedicated surfer girl. Her style reminded me of Leah Dawson--in love with the waves. Fun to watch and nice to talk with.

That's a sweet board, Cardiff.

Cool cam capture. I enjoyed surfing there WAY too much during my winter 2015 trip. can't wait to return.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Someone snapped a pic from February '16.
It's nice to have photos taken, but as a photographer and waterman, I find those who aren't tend to crop their photos way too much. People want to see the size of the wave you're on.

I'm hoping this was a decent one, as I'm all squatted down and ready for take off...

Nice wave and picture, but as a photographer yourself don't you think the guy or gal who snapped that pic would appreciate a little green for his or her effort? $9. in Kathy's pocket ;D (not sure if she took the shot)

Actually, I'm not sure the proceeds even make it back to the poster?
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.
