Drink Holder?
« on: August 13, 2013, 10:29:42 AM »
Any recommendations?  Saw this online, anyone have it?  Doesn't look like it would be big enough for my nalgene though.

This is the one you want:

http://www.amazon.com/Unisex-Ocean-Lineage-Bottle-Suction/dp/B009CCYNNM

Not sure where you located, but we carry them @ California Canoe & Kayak in Oakland, CA for $29.99.

They're legit, my buddy Mike locked it onto his deck & used it to pick the entire board off the ground.

They sell holders like the first post at boat and fishing stores. They,re pretty cool, cheap, and work well.

Check these out.  A girl I work with started this company.  She told me she is going to start making them in neoprene for watersports later this year.  They would be good for casual paddling.

My buddy designed the SUP Buddy... I've surfed small thigh-high waves with an open can of "beverage" on board... Do like the looks of the one Fog City posted as well though.

I like my SUP Buddy, but yes, it is too small for standard water bottles.  I have one tall, tapered Nike bottle that fits, but that's it.  I suppose I could just save a can and fill it with water, or switch to drinking whatever comes in cans.

I really prefer holding the drink on the board to wearing a hydration pack, except in races where time is precious.

I've also just duct-taped a bottle cage to my board for a water bottle, and also taped a carabiner to my water bottle and attached it to the leash, but neither worked as a permanent solution.  I also like that suction bottle cage, if the suction is strong enough.

I checked the Ocean Lineage one to make sure it fits wider bottles like the Nalgene, and it does.  It stretches to fit most sizes.  It's $29.95.

We have the SUP Buddy too where I work (CCK in Oakland, CA), it's definitely the way to go for open beverages, like beer :).  As it's essentially just a beer koozie, I wouldn't recommend it for expeditions/rough water paddling.  $25.

Happy to ship to anyone who doesn't have a shop in their 'hood  8).  Just PM me w/ your phone #.

Cheers,
Mitch
