Is there any difference in design between the 2011 Glide and the 2012 Glide?

Just color difference.  I don't think the design changed until this year when they started going narrower. I have the 2011 Jav, all white model, and it looks identical in shape to the 2012.

If you mean the Glide 14 - ie, the downwind board - yes.  A lot.  Rocker/nose, rails, tail, deck etc etc.  Totally evolved/revised for the better (in most conditions)

If you mean the Javelin, then I think the only change was the addition of a slightly recessed pad/deck area.  But I don't have one yet, so best to let the Javelin pushers chime in.

The Javelin is basically a Glide, but with the lower rocker and slightly narrower width, it's tailored for a woman.  You could use it when she wasn't using it.  

Sort of a reverse-Irish-Spring-soap strategy (if you're old enough to remember that).

Funny that I never thought of doing that, pdx.  I already do something similar with her clothes when she's not around.

I have the old white Javelin.  Haven't seen it side by side with the new, but I think it's identical.  My deck is also recessed (it's not much, but it's there if you look carefully).

The problem with buying the Javelin 14 for your wife is that she is always using it...and then you have to paddle her old 12'6" because she likes that she can keep up with you now.

After a month, I've paddled the Jav 2x.

Both times were at the end of the paddle too...it does fly.
