Nice board UK. It's amazing how hard those kids can shred even in tiny waves. Have you found time for that unlimited yet?
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Someone told me recently that carbon isn't worth the cost and isn't any better than any other cloth unless it is put in an oven and cooked at high heat. Can anyone confirm that?

On an unlimited race board your only option is carbon fiber. One layer of 5.8 oz carbon top and bottom with a layer of 2 or 4 oz e-glass as a sanding layer. Almost no flex on an 18' x 25". 25 pounds total. 1# EPS stringerless. Can not do that with e or s glass. It's worth the money. The 3k 5.8oz plain weave 50" wide cost me $14./yd. ( it was on special) The twill weave which is much easier to work with, and stays together when you squeegee it (like glass) cost $ 34./yd . I heated my shop to 90 deg F with some space heaters and 300 w lights. That worked fine. Some people don't know the difference between a wet lay-up on carbon fabric and pre-preg might think that. Pre-Preg costs a fortune and has to be cooked at 200+ deg F. That kind of heat doesn't work good with EPS foam. I love carbon fiber.

My 6'8 carbon cork sandwich surf SUP is pretty durable and stiff.  I dont get any chattering like with standard fiberglass construction.  I think they are worth it but its all depend how much more you have to paid compare to fiberglass.  The only thing i dont like is getting hit by my own board, it hurt more compare to fg board  ;D.
