Awww, we were just talking about them yesterday after the treadmill paddle.  Starting with how dismissive he was of locals when he was in town for Paddle for Humanity.  Guess he has his sights higher.

Headmount, after the JT thread, it almost frightens me that you even know who Courteny Love is, much less what she looked like that young.

Slater is a great kid, with a wonderful, supportive, and well grounded family. Like a lot of young people that suddenly have lots of people that want a piece of him, he's become guarded, but it's mostly intrinsic shyness and the typical awkwardness of a young guy out of his element. He'll get over it. Pretty much all the Maui kids that have blossomed out into a bigger stage are going through this. It's a small island. Going from a place where you know everyone to environments where all these strangers are all over you is pretty intimidating. They're doing better at adjusting than most people would, because they all have great families to count on.

In other words, give the kid a break. He's a really good guy.

I never saw CL when she was young but have unfortunately seen her in more recent pics.  Since she had some notoriety I figured at one time she might have been fairly attractive, like when a person is young and it doesn't matter how much abuse they do to themselves.  So it was an extrapolation.  A curiosity of mine is how people age.  JT on the other hand didn't have to worry about his looks because he was a skinny hippie when he was young.  He looks and sounds better now.  That's really cool.

Now I do remember Kim Bassinger and well wow.

I agree PB, Slater and his parents are great people. Got to spend some time with them at the race in Culver, then again in downtown Chicago at that race.

He was very gracious and helpful with my daughter and me. He's definitely a fairly shy kid, spent a lot of time alone, avoiding the crowds.

Good for him, rolling with Hollywood! THat's also the same daughter where her Dad Alec was caught leaving a ranting, mean voicemail on her phone a few years ago.

If nothing else, it's good publicity for SUP!
