Cold front leftovers video
« on: December 28, 2012, 08:22:17 AM »
The day after Christmas we got some decent swell with the cold front passing through. Really choppy, strong winds and drifts made it a real workout.

The day after the front passes we get a clean leftovers day. Not as big, but perfect SUP waves. Days like this is why I started to SUP in the first place. Just relax and have fun after getting pounded the day before.

Beachhunter posted this long quiet video of the Venice jetties which shows it perfectly, although I enjoy less crowded options further south. SUP, longboard, short board all doing their thing.

Haha it's not that kind of vibe there usually. Everyone is pretty mellow. Everyone gets dropped in on or ran into at some point. We are just happy to have waves. You can see how much farther out the SUPs are than the short boarders.

Nice video... all the way through it I was happy to see a good vibe by everyone.
Nice to see a long SUP rocking the outside.
Looks like a fun session

Funny... at the end..."Micki Dora"  dropped in on the same guy he pushed off the wave earlier.
Plus... he was not wearing a leash... in that crowd. another hero. ::)

finsider, this is funny as I just came across this thread.
That's me with the hat. I think that was the only guy that dropped in on me. I know most of the locals so when it's small like this we often share waves. More times than not if I have to come inside to catch waves I'll just call/take the short closing part of the wave and pass on the longer right. I like the lefts anyway.

Nice rides firesurf! I'm originally from Sarasota and actually learned to surf at the venice jetties almost 20 years ago now (I was 8), back then the north side seemed to get better surf.  Still too crowded for my tastes.

I'm now in Fort Myers surfing a small jetty/sandbar break usually alone.  Shoot me a message if you are ever down this way.  Hope you are getting some water time as it looks like we have surf this whole weekend.

For you northerners....I was warm in my springsuit yesterday  :P
