SoCal Board Demo Day
« on: December 07, 2012, 04:41:58 AM »
Okay dudes (dudettes?), lets get some ideas going.

-Location and day of week.
-Average size day could work nicely.
-Bring as many boards and paddles as you can, including distance/cruisers.
-Cameras for online reviews.
-???
-Profit

:)

I think we should probably have it half way between SD and OC...  At a spot where we will not ruin everyone's day, like the O side spot that we surfed that one day... The same one where I surfed with Boludo, Ed, and the So Cal Supp family.  Easy access, you can unload ur boards right on the beach, very uncrowded, picks up decent swell, etc. DEFINITELY not Dogpatch.

We could do it by targeting a specific day of the week, then looking at the reports early in the week and pulling the trigger.

As I am a working stiff, I would prefer a weekend morning.

The only weekend that is blocked for me is the first weekend of the year as my office is moving that weekend.

We should probably wai for the holidays to blow over.

Thoughts?

Let's toss our 3-4 locations and dates and then set up a poll all the combinations and see where the greatest participation will be.

The possible dates:

  1/13
  1/20
  1/27
  2/3

  (Sundays omitted. Any other restrictions)

Possible location:

  O-side spot
  ?
  ??
  ???

Let's hear more location ideas!

At the O side spot that I am thinking of, there are picnic tables... a restroom, and a shower... and lots of parking.

We can make sure Ralphie has the T shirts done in time!

Boards I'm offering up for demo:
-Starboard 8'0" Pro, 6'6" Impossible, 8'5" Tiki, and if I get it in time, a 7'7" Pro
-Imagine 8'3" (SL's old board)

Wait, two boards I have access to were once Tim's. Come to think of it, he provides half this forum with used gear. :)

I'm back from Hawaii. I can bring my 6'10", 7'6", 7'8" and 8,2". I can typically make it out one or two days during the week and any weekend day. If we do it after the new year I'll have a couple newer boards to bring along too.

Aloha,
Jeff

I can bring a few ULIs.  Hopefully it won't conflict with any of the SoCal race dates as we'll have our boards at most of these:  http://www.eteamz.com/SoCalOceanRacing/

Absolutely.
Working on the shirts now..
As soon as they are ready I will send out a blast..

I can bring Boards and Paddles...

Perhaps it will be helpful if requests for specific boards or size ranges were made...

I'll have my 9.0 Naish Mana. Not quite shortboard but may satisfy some who are wanting to step down from 9.5/10+. I'm looking at the 8.0 range and being able to sample a Starboard Pro/Hokua.......anything else would be pure gravy!

Any more thoughts on possible dates? Or dates that are "no-go's"?
