Hawaii Kai run 9-3-12
« on: September 06, 2012, 11:37:59 AM »
Here is some footage of the run.  Out of about 25 minutes of footage, I cut out 20 and was left with 5 minutes of mediocre footage.  Paddled with Craig visiting from down under but unfortunately did not get any footage of him.

Video quality is poor but here you go.  Another issue is that the camera frequently gets buried under water when the nose starts to boof (I think I'm using that term correctly here).

At least it was a beautiful day.

It does look like a beautiful day.. What board are you on? .. Where in Oz is Craig from? .. and boofing is what Starboards do..  ;D .. with their fat nose boards.. You were just poking the nose or pearling it every now and then.. That's pretty normal.. Using a camera mount that gets the camera up off the surface of the board at least 10" or so should help with all that water on the lens.. Maybe even try that suction mount, that might work and be high enough.. It looks like a nice gloss surface on the board to suck onto.

I was on a Blue Planet board designed by Robert with input from me.  It has a nose something like a Starboard so I realize that boofing is part of the package.  Its not so much of an issue with paddling, but it really affected the video.

Craig is from Sydney area (I think....)

The board has a built in FCS mount in the front of the board for GoPro use.  If I could get an extension arm that had a FCS mount on the bottom I could mount the thing higher up on the front of my board.  I could also face the camera forward and try to film other riders in front of me.  Or maybe the suction mount.

1P2P,
Thanks for sharing the video.  I'm headed up this weekend, hope the wind is blowing!  Let me know if you guys are planning a run.  I got access to board and paddle.

As for the FCS mount.  Maybe you can use the FCS GoPro mount as the tie down, and stick on the GoPro suction mount next to it, or, make a custom extended arm for the FCS mount.

How's the custom board?  PM me some pics, love to see it.
