Smallest cheapest inflatable PFD
« on: July 24, 2012, 08:40:29 AM »
So, after an exchange with a CG Auxiliary officer last week while on vacation at the coast, I've determined it may be in my best interest to purchase a CG approved inflatable PFD.

I paddle inland 95% of the time on flatwater or small chop.  I use a leash.  I do not plan on using said PFD, only wish to avoid a potential fine until such time as rules for SUP may change.

To that end, toss me some ideas about compact, inexpensive, and CG approved inflatables.  I'll keep it in my hydration back.

Thanks.

I have that same Onyx M 24.  Much more convenient than carrying a pfd on the board, and actually has some safety value as well as meeting the rules.

I'm definitely finding the CG PFD rules a bit frustrating. Especially on inland SUP. I'd rather they just make us wear leashes!
