I hope this isn't a repeat.

Here's a guy windsurfing a 12'6" SUP at over 34 knots. Yeesh!

i dont want to sound unpolite... or not enthusiastic...
but what is so cool about this?

for speed sailing there are much better tools out there than 12' + board....

its like trying to use a straight screwdriver on phillips screw... wrong tool...

what is the point of this? to test the limits? to prove that one can do it on a longer board? (but that is obviously doable... he is not looping a Mistral Competition like Robby did...)
to test the limits of construction, if it breaks?
to me its like creating an artificial challenges that he later overcomes... (buy a right board, dude! he certainly a great windsurfer...)

the board is designed for doing well what he is doing on the picture in DJ's reply... for everything else, its a very inferior tool...

my two cents... dont flame, it is my opinion...

I find it cool because he is accomplishing something that was never really intended to be done - - in this case - speed sailing a 12'6" Stand Up Paddle board.

Have you ever windsurfed at 34 knots? It's a pretty "cool" feeling imho. I doubt I have even ridden that fast windsurfing at a perfect place. Windy in flat water just off a sand spit. Amazing really.  Note the protective gear he wore for crashing and burn situations.

Man, I've barely sailed at 1/2 of 34 knots. Then again, I was never a speed demon. I don't even drive fast.

Given the fact that he holds the world speed record I am sure he already has much better equipment for the job.....

Sometimes it's just fun to play.......  It's what got most people into SUP in the beginning.  Fun!

windsurfing speed record is 49 knots.
and I think the Albeau is the guy...

not that it matters, but googling it will give you the answer...

and no, I have nothing against speed sailing per se... in fact  I love it!
and 1/2 of 34 knots is not screaming fast at all...
and yes 34 knots is a good speed in itself on the water...
if I am not mistaken the waterskier lower threshold is 30 knots...

I just commenting on the fact that going for speed on a SUP,... is a strange choice...
12' stand up paddle board with wave rocker... with 90% of the board in the air... definitely he needs a protective gear...

sounds like a Guiness record to me...

but... different strokes for different folks...

That is pretty wild. Can you imagine the carnage if two of them hit head on at 70 knots combined speed? Sorry, didn't want to be morbid, but the thought of that makes the speed even more spectacular.
