Got to ride a Starboard Pocket Rocket today 8'5x30x4.2
« on: May 04, 2012, 10:14:15 AM »
I'm a big dude, 6'6 230lbs but got around on it fine.

Fun little board.

Paddles decently and is very maneuverable off the tail. Would probably nose ride really good to.

Conditions were a bit swamped out but I got some chest high open faces and at least one lip to smash which it did just fine.

Happy friday!

nice you are a feet taller and 50 lb heavier than me.  Are you close to sinking the deck?

You are setting the bar awfully high.... low  ???
You must have skillz to be comfortable on that board at your size!

I am still suffering from a VERY onshore bumpy session yesterday on my 9'6 x 33 !

I would say the front 60% of the board was above water.

My normal board is 9'6x29.5x4.58 so going to the littler one was an adjustment but once I figured out the exact best spot to put my feet things kinda clicked. The board definitely doesn't glide but it does the trick!

I'm trying to push myself more and more with sucky conditions and smaller boards. I have an 8'6x30x4.5 Infinity on order. Should have it in a week or so. =) Keep suffering!  ;D

Dang man, you displace that 230 pretty darn well.....would have lost the carnival game of try to guess your weight by a long shot.   :o  ;D

Definitely fun once underway, but all of the time waiting and leading up to getting underway is a pain in the......well, at least for me.

Happy to hear that you're able to make it work, and do so well on it.

And my buddy whose board it is, even though newer to SUP surfing, was able to score a few on it. He was in the drink quite a bit though.  :D
