Anybody else at work wishing they were in the water?
« on: April 20, 2012, 09:50:08 AM »
Nothing exciting about this topic at all. I was just thinking about how nice it would be to be in the water now. I'm sure I'm not alone...:). Beautiful day in NY!!

Yes and no. Great day here in CA but I proned the other night and my ribs are still sore, I'm pouring a slab for a pizza oven project in my back yard tonight and I'm going to look at a 65 VW Bus (new SUP carrying vehicle) I've been looking for at lunch. All of these things I hope to go well. On the other hand I'm planning my escape for a dawn patrol session on Sunday morning!

Fingers crossed for you Steve. I know the feeling MUCH too well. You have to put up a brave front to support your girl, while you're gibbering with fear of something horrible happening to her. Stay brave for her, it's what you can do.

A hearty second!

And yes, every day I'm at work and it's warm, sunny, without much wind I wish I was on the water.  Having surf cams, which I can't stop looking at only makes it worse.  And having ear surgery and not being able to get in the water and having stitches in both shoulders so I can't even flat water yet while we have an unseasonably glassy spring period makes it nearly impossible to take.  And driving PCH from Oceanside to Torrey Pines during a glassy swell with head high waves makes it torture.  OK, back to the Thorazine.  Have a nice day.

Peace to you and your wife, Steve!

Not like I dislike my job, but I spend most days wishing I were on the water...but I'm almost there!  Went and put my board on the roof late last night just to make sure nothing would prevent me from doing it this morning.  I see it out my window...I hear it calling to me whenever someone opens the door.  I'm feeling a case of the Santa Barbara flu coming on--it'll be full-blown by 4pm so I think I'll leave work then.

and in the spirit of this thread...it's 4:16pm and the board is now screaming at me from the roof rack.

I really "don't feel well".  Better leave work now and see if I can kick whatever bug this might be...

When I'm paddling I like paddling.  When I'm working I like working.

But I look right at the river from my office, and the most popular SUP launch in Portland is right in my view 100 yards away.  Today's the first really sunny day here, and I've already seen the parade of SUP renters walking along the path in front of me from Gorge Performance to the water with their boards.  Could get tougher to work pretty soon...

I know....those first couple really nice days in the Spring are tough..  We are planning to go back to Costa Rica again this winter so it makes it easier to work like crazy when you have a goal in mind.
