I've paddled both and I would say that the 27" Ace is slightly faster and slightly less stable than the K15.

Never paddled the 14' x 27" but I paddled the 12'6 x 27" and we own the 14' x 25".

The larger ACE has almost 400 liters of volume so it would float you, but at your weight it might be pushing the stability limits of the board.

If you have never paddled an ACE, I highly recommend you do so before purchasing your next board.  A very efficient flatwater shape.

In the 14 foot board test we did the 14 x 27 Ace was paddled by some big guys, over 120kg (250#), no problems.

But load carrying and stability are two different things, a demo would be the only way to be sure.

Agree with DJ on the speed and stability assessment, the Ace feels a little tippier initially but has much more secondary stability IMO, feels like its going over but doesn't. It has almost twice the volume of the K15, in all the right places to help you recover.

Even though the Ace might be slightly quicker there's something special about the K15 in the way it slices through the water like a hot knife through butter.. The Ace seems to skim more on the surface rather than cut though it like most other displacement type boards.

True that, the K15 often feels like it's going faster due to that piercing effect as opposed to the slap-happy Ace. But GPS timing more often than not shows the Ace to be the quicker board.

thanks for the info guys so would the 25 or 27 suit my weight better.also have a coast runner have no balance issues with that.with the k15 it is a great board but find it hard to stay on in any side chop fine in front or behind me.

At your weight I would recommend the wider board for sure.

At 185 to 190 pounds the 14 x 25" board is a handful for me in chop greater than 1 foot, especially if its crossed up or generally messy conditions (the exception is if I'm going straight with the wind, then the board can handle it fine).

So over 200 pounds I would think the 27" wide version would be more appropriate.  But if you have exquisite balance then who knows.  If you can demo the boards would be the best way to find out.

If you plan to keep the Coast Runner, then that gives you an option for the choppier days. Maybe a Coast Runner / 25" Ace combo would work for you after all. With the K15, while it's a big board and seems really stable for us light weights, the volume is actually not that high and there's definitely a tipping point (no pun intended) when the rider's weight turns that board into a very unstable experience.
