Naish 14 Javelin feedback
« on: March 03, 2012, 05:48:34 PM »
Hello everyone...

Saw a great deal on a 2011 Javelin 14. Never tried one, but how is the stability. I heard they are fairly tippy, but seem very fast too. I am about 200 pounds.

Any help would be great....

Thanks Zoners

I'd describe the Jav, as very tippy and very fast. Just about zero secondary stability, throws you off at whim! Great board though, I've done a little down winding on DJ's and it's a blast but I'm 145#, on glassy flat water it's quite astonishingly fast, first time I paddled it was on a smooth river and I just couldnt believe how easily is accelerated. That was a couple of years ago and the goal posts have shifted a little since then, IMO there are boards that are just as fast but more stable available now. Fantastic board as part of a quiver. Bet there are some cheap ones out there from people who never got used to the tippiness.

On a positive note it ups your game for other boards. I have a 14 Jav and find it fast and tippy, but you get used to it's little quirks. I don't consider it to be the fastest 14 available, but it's right up there.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.
