K1 have you ever been to the lake at Ft. Yargo St. Park?  I was there for a MTB race yesterday and the water looked pretty inviting.

K1, Id be up for meeting you at LL one of these days but the day job usually has me tied up during the weekdays. I might be able to do a late afternoon paddle though.

Did you come down and take part in the river race on the hooch last weekend?

Have not paddle at Yargo.  Have been on the bike trails there though.  The lake always looked  a bit muddy to me.  Paddled up at Lade Rabun a couple of times lately and it is really a nice spot to paddle (clear water, easy access, nice homes to check out).

I was at the race.  Raced 12 6 and finished in 10th place.  Was 10 minutes behind the 12 6 winner but felt like I was an hour behind:)  I had been out three or four times to train before the race and felt like I was in decent shape.  But, the first lap out I had a huge adrenalin rush and with paddling against the wind and the heat I became exhausted  just on the first couple of miles.  I almost pulled out I was hurting so bad.  But, glad I stuck with it and actually being 10 minutes behind first was better than I expected to do.  Definitely need to get some better training in.  Also might try a 14 footer as I am 200 lbs.

Nice, looks like I came in one spot behind ya. I had a similar race. Felt great at the start but got gassed about half way to the bouy the second time round. The finish was fairly exciting for me as there was a group of four of us sprinting around the last turn.
