South County Freebird Banshee
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:38:35 PM »
Just wanted to post the picture before the board gets copied. Had the design in my head all year while talking with my friend Wayne.
We've been testing them and it's been really fun.

Sometimes you have to think out o the box, but I got to tell you I am having nightmares about how to turn that board.. Be like, take two hops back, splash, man overboard!!!

Have fun, maybe we will see you paddling it at Dana point, Jill

Jill, it's simple, you turn it around. ;)

I'd love to paddle this one and see how it handles.

Oh John, you've done it again. Some push the envelope, you somehow made a paper airplane out of it, with turbojets.  I can't wait to see this in the water.  I'll be north this weekend but perhaps in two weeks, I'll be down on Sunday and I'll be listening for the banshee yell!

Now that is innovative thinking.  Let us know if it is as fast as it looks.

It does look like a fast piercing nose and stable standing area.  Looks like it would be be easy to turn because there is not much nose to pull out of the water and spin around. Give us a review.

The Puma mated with Candi, whose offspring contains the anorexia of Angelina Jolie's upper body, and the girth of Kim Kardashian's lower body (sans obligatory airbrushing)...

This shape seems to recognize the yacht racing idea of the Puma, but also recognizes that we little folk don't have the same ponies as a massive sail set... and have "efficiented" (yes, just made that word up) the board.  Nice!

Out of the box thinking (well, from the picture, "on top of the box" thinking)... Good on ya!  Can't wait to hear a report.

I have to admit, though, it looks a little bit like the space pickle...  ;)

Plus one.
I say a it's a blatant rip off combination of a Jammer, Space Pickle and lawn dart.

Looks like it should have xwings on the back, lasers, and photon torpedoes. Very cool John.

That looks awesome, love that you kept the signature double wing in back.

Okay, got some pics for you guys, sorry late too tired at night after playing all day.

Got one SoCal would like with checked pad.
Strand and Southwesterly both your trained eyes caught me...damn.

Some photos of the Banshee in action. First in glassy flat water and then surfing some waves.
The nose enables you to steer by leaning left to go right and vice versa, like having a front fin, paddle all day on one side if you want.
Standing forward gives you the most stability, speed and tracking.
Because the nose is so narrow you can put in your paddle perfectly vertical without worrying about hitting the rails.
Just step back a little to get the nose up and it spins on a dime, like all our other boards.
