I have.. Both great boards.. For my liking the Fanatic has a bit too much volume in the nose area and it makes side wind paddling very difficult because the wind catches it.. I think the Glide is more forgiving with its nose shape because it doesn't do the catch and broach thing that deep displacement noses tend to do.. It also handles pearling better having more nose rocker..  I'm thinking the Fanatic may be slightly faster in some conditions but I find the Naish more fun to paddle.. The next 14' Fanatic will have less volume in the nose area and also loose that ridge along the top of the deck making it difficult to put upside down on a roof rack without damaging that ridge.. Good move Fanatic.. They will also drop the rocker slightly like what Naish did with their old vs new Glides.. So.. If it's flat water paddling the Fanatic may have an edge.. If it's down-winders or the odd small waves I'd recommend the Glide.. The new Open Ocean Starboard is another good option.

spot on DJ - same experiences we've had here....downwind the Glide is slightly faster, choppy ocean paddling with no downwind the Fanatic might have an edge.

On downwind - new Glide took me a little while to get used to - old Glide has more boxy rails and more nose-rocker which initially makes it easier to accelerate and prevents pearling. But, once you get used to utilizing the extra waterline of new Glide then you'll find that it picks up anything and everything and control is also improved as the softer rails prevents the board from tracking too hard. So once you figure it out it's probably a little faster downwind.
On flat water it's just faster than old Glide, but if I was looking for a downwind board then the old Glide can still hold it's own....looking at what else is on the market the old Glide actually works remarkably well - the new one is fine-tuning of something that already worked.

I still have to old Glide and love it so much I can't bring myself to selling it.. even though the new Glide is better and faster.. The deck on the new Glide is slightly contoured and lets you feel where you are without looking down.. Here's a couple of vids that I did showing how well the new Glide goes.. The second vid shows how well it goes in very light wind.. Much better than the old.. It has amazing glide..  ;D

DJ - anyway we could get you and Jonathan to give us one of those split screen videos comparing the new Glide 14 to the Starboard Open Ocean?

Just kidding, but its that kind of information that is really useful to people who want to know the differences between the boards without having the ability to demo them side by side.

I think we could do that... I'll see what I can do.. Also the new Coreban 14' DW'er is going to be something special and I should get to demo it soon.

Sorry to differ I REALLY like the Fanatic Fly 14Ft it is faster for me than the Glide (I only have limitted 2012 Glide use) but then I'm betting I'm a bigger guy and that whole nose issue just doesn't happen to me
