Blane, any production boards smaller than the 9'2"?
« on: August 14, 2007, 05:00:12 PM »
Hey Blane are there any plans for a production board smaller than your 9'2'' ? I keep seeing more and more boards show up all over the place and can't wait until some of the pop outs get under 4" thick and 27" wide. I think something a little smaller than the 9'2" lileo kinimaka board would suite a lot of the up and coming kids and people 150lbs and under.

I asked the same question a few weeks back.  At that time, there weren't any sub 9' productions in the works.  I have a PSH Kinimaka 9'2 production and I love it as my big board, but at my size (115lbs) it does not provide the same performance as it is for Leleo at 190ish.  Blane is shaping me a custom 8'6 and I can not wait to try it.  I'll post some pic's when I have her.  I agree that the smaller board market is currently underserved, and is already viable.

I'm researching for my first purchase right now and I definitely interested in anything smaller and lighter! Chan, I look forward to your photos and review.

Whoops! Sorry Blane for asking the same question

Chan: What shape/dimensions will your 8'6" be? Sounds like it will probably be an awesome board, how long will it take to be made?
Im interested in getting a new board, I've been paddling various longboards for the past year and now want something a little more progressive.

I'm actually making a few 8'-6" boards that will not be molded.   Reason...   Until I can be sure production quantities will meet what we need I will not make anymore models.      Our current line of boards sell so well and stoke out plenty people.

Glassed boards on the other hand is something we will have plenty of very soon....    I'll post when things happen...   Right now we are on the verge of plenty good quality glassed boards that are current designs to blow the mind!

Aloha,

Blane

Are the 8'6" glass boards you're making strictly custom orders, or will you be making some to put in shops?
Any of them coming to Kauai, or how could I get a hold of one?

I'll be selling them at select shops on the outer islands, and mostly out of my office on Oahu...

I will give you a full report, hopefully soon. I am traveling for the next two weeks, but I am looking forward to getting back to Maui, and am very eager to try out my new board. Although, you may want to consider Blane’s production 9’2. This is a great board for smaller riders, and if you are going to own one board only, it may be the best choice.  I am riding one currently, and loving it.
