SUP Rail Bands - whats the right way???
« on: August 17, 2011, 11:12:20 AM »
I am shaping my fourth 12' x 32'' x 5'' sup board and am having a hard time getting a visual (I am visual / hands on) grip on the right way to layout the deck rail bands.
A picture or SUP shaping video would be great ---

Any suggestiongs from some pro shapers would be most appreciated!!!

Thank you in anticipation of some help --

Thanks for the kind words guys. Here is a pic of a planed out board now no hand sanding has been done at all to this thing just the planer. Rails are turned bottom contours are in edge is in the rail even put the wings in and true the plane shape with the planer. I am old school grab the planer and build a board. I am digging the new shaping room my shaper buddies call it the worlds largest shaping room its 14'x24'.

The same board almost finished with a lamed top and bottom with a hotcoat on it.

This is a 9'3" SUP custom modeled off of a early 1970's Jerry Lopez lighting Bolt 7'0" single fin prone board. It should carry a line and feel similar to the original prone board. I like it I think its pretty cool.
Peace Guys, Stop by any time.

Here is a cool little 8'0" custom for a friend of mine.

My little 8'er it kicks ass I built it off of these little prone 5'-5'10" fishes I have been building and everyone is really liking.

A little action shot on Squeaky I call it squeaky cause it will squeak through any section like lightning.

I am getting ready to build me a 7' mini Squeaky... Stoked
