The 9'5'' is barely out. It is not hitting the islands here in a while yet. I have ridden both the 9'0'' hokua and 9'0'' mana..the 9'0'' hokua being my favorite board.

140 l in both almost same dimesions, for me 140 is on the big side my old 9'6 had 135 but it helps when i gets choppy and windy tried a nalu 9'0 the other dag in chopy carpy waves thats a tippy board and only 26" wide.  The hokua has quad optins wich will make it more flexible but I prefer truster anyway. the mana got good reveiws and is a bit shorter maybe this will make i snappier?

The old 9' Nalu was only 26" but the new one is 27 3/4" wide.

The 9' Mana is 29 5/8" wide and the 9'5" Hokua is 29 1/2" wide.

I haven't paddled the 9' Mana.. I've heard it's not a board for bigger guys and I'm 200lbs.. It should be fine for you at your weight.

I have paddled the new 9'5" Hokua and I was fine on it.. but it was a bit tricky in confused water.

I would guess that the main difference between these boards is that the Mana would be best if you like to get to the nose and do tricks in a longboard style.. I'm thinking the Hokua would be best surfed from the tail in a more short board style.

Well obviously we are all different but the 9'0'' mana is not a problem to paddle. I am 190lb now, and it would be as big of a board as I would want to ride. I can compare it to the 9'6'' nalu. Very smooth rides. Still prefer the 9'0'' hokua tho. Thruster for smaller waves and quad once it picks up a little   ;D ;D

I think I'l by the 9'5 hokua because of the quad option.

I think I'l by the 9'5 hokua because of the quad option.

I wouldn't chose it for the quad setup. Naish's quad setup favors drive over looseness. So it's not the typical quad feel you get with the more common quad placement of rear fins moved up and out by the rail.

I found Naish boards feel looser and just perform better setup thruster over quad. At least until Naish goes with a more Stretch like quad placement.

Point being, if you're a quad fan, their placement might feel like you expect it to.

I thought yhat that alwasy was the case with quads at least in w-surf quad=drive=less losness truster=loosnes = less drive I find that my hokua 9'6 in quad set somatimes get a sticky fealing especial on the topturn.

Just in...Hokua 9'5''..I think this means the end of the 9'0''. I have to wait until the wind comes down a little for a test (gotta kite when it is windy), but very soon....

I love the feel of the quads on the Naish boards. It is the only type quad I've tried on a SUP to any extent though, so that you might take that into consideration. :-)

I have spent a lot of time surfing on the Naish Hokua and Mana boards and the Mana 9'0" is my favorite all-around board. It can hang performance wise with the Hokua series. The tail rocker is key.

I'm a VERY big guy I ride the Mana 9Ft as my go to board in better surf (Here in the EC/USA. I have found the Hokua's to be very tricky but have not ridden the '12 yet

Mana 9Ft is a good all around design here!

As I am also debating what surf SUP board to get next, these 2 choices are on my list …

But I guess until I try/demo them I will not have a educated opinion. Maybe even just to “paddle” around without “real” surfing before I decide to buy .

BTW: I had the Coreban 9 Fusion and the Starboard 9’s (Hero and Converse) and the 8.10 WidePoint considered too. But for the time being, I am focusing on the 2 Naish boards mentioned here.

There are some good reviews on the SeaBreeze site and also on the Zone.
All the reviews I have seem state this: “The new Hokua 2012  is a very different board to the old 9'6"”,

Here is 2 that I recommend to read:

http://www.suphq.com/reviews/naishreviews/621-naish-hokua-2011-96-vs-hokua-2012-95

The "research" continues ...  :-\

Thx
