I really like the idea but I seen no one doing with there whole line this except Naish, and  they don,t show imo enough details of the board or explain the why.
+ how do you measure a wave when you talk about sizes , something I would call headhigh in the northsea is chest in France and probably less then a feet in Hawaii...

Best option: bring everyboard to the crockswearing kangaroo, his reviews, pics and vids are standing very lonely on the top if you wanna know more about a board.

I would like to see more video demos too, the only drawback might be that people would be more inclined to web sales.  Idealy, I'd like to see more live demos available.  What works for a good rider on a long-period Pacific wave might not be the ticket for short-period beach breaks along the east coast. The only way to truly know/appreciate the difference is first hand experience.

JL has filed in court against starboard. See article link above.   Although Starboard originally apologized to Jimmy and promised that it would never happen again, they later ran FOUR more advertsements in magazines featuring the JL board.  Legal action may be the only thing that makes them keep promises.

For those interested in the legal fine print, the actual complaint that has been filed is available at this link.

More precisely, Jimmy Lewis sued the company owned by Connor Baxter's parents (one of Starboard's US distributors), in addition to Starboard.  Kind of a tangled web.

But JL is also suing SkyHi Distributing which is apparently the Hawaiian agent for Starboard and is owned by the Baxters. Which is really sad if, as Karen Baxter suggests, they were extremely close to Jimmy in the past.

Standup Paddleboard Companies Settle Out of Court - Surfrider Gets Unexpected $25,000

http://www.outdoorindustry.org/news.industry.php?newsId=16391&newsSubType=&action=display

Surfrider Foundation is receiving a donation this week in the amount of $25,000.  The unexpected donation is part of an out of court settlement between legendary surf shaper Jimmy Lewis and Starboard World Ltd and it's U.S. Distributors.  The two companies are competitors in the Stand Up Paddleboard market.

Last month, Maui-based Lewis filed suit in the Seattle Division of Washington Federal Court, alleging that Starboard and its US distributors altered high performance photos of their top rider using a Jimmy Lewis standup paddleboard and repeatedly published these pictures in their catalog and advertisements.

Under the settlement agreement, Starboard has agreed to pay a $25,000 charitable donation to Surfrider Foundation.  Starboard has also agreed to refrain from using Jimmy Lewis products in any future Starboard advertisements.

2 things:

First, this is a classy way to handle a dispute like this. Kudos to Jimmy Lewis.

And I hope Starbord decides to just pay the $25,000 for an extra shoot day instead of photoshopping it next time. How sad that we all saw this coming and people inside the company refused to learn from our little internet stink.

surfcowboy--I agree 100%.

And if I was the Surfrider Foundation, I'd check the watermark on that check.

I don't want to re hash this all - because the horse has taken a beating already - but to clarify - - this latest "round" that brought on the lawsuit - occurred because a magazine mistakenly re ran the old ad that started the whole thing in the first place.  Had the magazine not done that - Surfrider would not have received anything - and this thread would have died somewhere around page 5.

And - yes - I agree it is a good outcome to it all.
