New inflatable C4 waterman 12.6 - any test/review?
« on: May 10, 2011, 12:24:25 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm a possessor of an C4 10.6 isup from about a year, the board is running well and I'm basically happy with it but I'm just curious about the new inflatable from C4, the 12.6 "river runner"...it seem pretty streamlined and one of the fastest isup around but is strange that there aren't many info about it and I can't find a good review online...so it would be nice share some opinions about the board.

I use the 10.6 mostly for cruising and it work well but for sure is not fast,  on a typical session I've an average of 3.3/3.4 miles/h and on a sprint I can't go over 4.5miles/h, so how much better perform the new board on flat water? Anyone tried it?

Well, it seems that very few folks have that board at today  ;D

So far I've found on the net only a couple of vids:
<iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/X9nmjZZ9TUc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/16Cislkf6ro" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The second video is very short but is the only where the board go on flatwater and at first sight I can tell that there is a noticeable improvement in smoothness.
I would love to hear also some guys that know or have tried the 10.6 isup, what do you think about?

Noa Ginella won the teva games on the 12'6, so it must be pretty fast for an inflatable.

dunno about the 12 ft, 6 inch model, it should be faster than the 10 ft. 6 inch.
In a  mostly displacement mode, up to a point, the ultimate hull speed is a factor of the craft's length. Plus, it's probably a touch more stable in the flat water paddle mode., Thus ruling out any
lessening of speed due to wobble's.

However, I've got a 10 ft 6 inch model that I use mostly for ocean surfing, and from my perspective, it rocks!. Granted, I'm just beginning to leave the grommet stage on the thing.
And I weigh 220 poinds, so I may be at the upper end of it size wisebut it's fast enough.

It's a bit like when I started whitewater kayaking 30 years ago, and I purchased the hot slalom kayak at the time. I'd feel like I was going to eat it, and out of nowhere the hull would perform.
So it is with me and the C4 iSup board I'm using to ocean surf. Wave duffers in Tortola and all that.

Thanks for the reply guys,

Yeah the 12'6 seems pretty fast for an inflatable, I just wondering if the performance difference is worth the switch of the boards and if it can somewhat compete with an 11' rigid board with similar shape  :o

For me the 10'6 is a good all-round board and very nice to use, crkrider thanks for posting your experience, never done surfing with it (just a couple of occasional weave) but I'll try for sure  some moderate surfing this summer!  ;D
