But... did he stay on after he stabilized... truly amazing... but I am bummed that the footage got cut off... it would have been nice to see how he managed that part of the "dive."

Thanks for posting!

That is a cool video! I think being a light rider on a small board and mad skills you can pull it off...I will have to try it on my big board and my 250lbs frame and see how it goes. I will also use my semi mad skills! ;D We shall see.........!

This does look like a move for the ponies, not the Clydesdales.

Pretty sure Kai is on his 8' Hokua which is only 95L and has a pulled in nose so it helps to make this move possible.  Look closely at his stance (one foot behind the other and body low to the board) which helps him keep his balance and give him leverage when punching through the white water.

It will go as well as a walrus trying to climb a slippery slope! ;D First impact will pretty much bitch slap me 100mph backwards and if the board doesn't get me the wave will on the second go around!!! ;D But least I'll look good doing it!

As cool as it is, it's not so much a duck-dive. He didn't punch under or through a completely broken white water section. It looks like he ducked through/under a relatively thin lip on a small inside wave. I've actually done this once more or less by accident. I don't really think I'll be trying to do it again.

Actually after watching it again, it is pretty remarkable.

I don't see what the big deal is; I do that all the time!  Ok, so my finish is a little different when I get thrown off the back of my board as the wave crashes into my chest and my board pops into the air like a balloon released underwater subsequently crashing down on my head... But those are mere technicalities!

AJR, right you are but I would add having the board bust you in the mouth.  Gonna cost me more than a board to get my teeth fixed.  Although my wife says the missing tooth look is starting to grow on her!  But then again, she was born in West Virginia. ;D

that was my first though--if I tried that I'd be eating fiberglass.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

LBat - I grew up in Kentucky so just a gap from a missing tooth would make you a looker!  Heck - having more than 2 teeth would make you a looker!!!
