Gladiator of the Week - Jeremy Riggs
« on: March 28, 2011, 09:24:41 PM »
I know many of you know Jeremy personally, so I thought I would share this with the group.  I also linked to one of the threads from SUP Zone about Jeremy, since it was such a cool story.  I thought everyone who read the story ought to read it.  I hope no one minds.

Jeremy is a great guy and it was greating getting to know him during this process.  Thanks again to all of you who sent me photos and info!

Here is the post if anyone is interested.

Nice job Casey, but I've got to tell you, small white type reversed out of black is nearly impossible to read. I wouldn't use that for anything but minimal text sites, and even then I'd think long and hard about it. My eyes are throbbing.

Sorry about that Bill.  It's the default for the Wordpress Theme I use. Let me see what I can do to increase the size. As for the color, it should be showing up as gray most often. The white is too bright, as you point out.

Very cool to see an article about Jeremy.

The only thing I'd add is that he's a good coach.  He has a ton of experience and is a great listener.  His advice has helped me tremendously.

Jeremy is the master of footwork.  I've examined his footwork in detail as I edited video I took of him on downwinders.  He walks on a board like he's on rice paper always maintaining perfect trim.  I'd like to see him do an article on footwork in the same vein as how Dave demonstrates stroke technique.

I agree to both points. The first time I saw Jeremy on a downwinder it was on a southside run several years ago. He was on a Foote Maliko 12 that was so skinny I couldn't understand how he could balance on it. His footwork was so smooth that the board seemed to run up and back underneath him, like he was extruding it.

As to your wordpress theme Casey, it's easier to change the theme than the font size. You can edit the CSS to change font size but when the theme author updates your theme, even just to stay current with Wordpress releases, the CSS will be overwritten. That's a pain. I modify the CSS in my sites but I maintain a separate custom CSS file that has precedence.

Readability is an important issue for sites.

Thank you all for the great feedback.  I am more convinced now than ever, that Jeremy was a great choice for this.  In addition to all of the kind words you guys have written, several other people have reached out to me and shared their thoughts on him as well.  I hope this additional exposure will help him out in some way.  In addition to being super talented, people can't say enough about him as a person, husband, and father.  Always nice to see people like that succeed.

Headmount, I am going to suggest this to him.
