Standup Paddling on Beer Bottles !!!
« on: March 25, 2011, 09:17:40 AM »
Ok, maybe this thread doesn't belong here, but I couldn't help but post this pic of Kona Brewing's latest beer I purchased last week here in Maui(no I don't work for them, and this is no advertisment.

What's next? A Budweiser barge being pulled by a fleet of Standups ?

Cameron Healy is a SUP fan--he founded Kona. I'd say it absolutely belongs. They are getting more involved in sponsoring SUP events.

The title for this thread had me intimidated for a bit--I still have trouble balancing on my 14' long board!

It's nice to see this in Hawaii--where people are trying to marginalize or restrict standup, having images of it appear in mainstream life will only make that more difficult.

Kona Brewing Co. Is sponsoring the Molokai 2 Oahu race this Summer, so they fully support the sport, not just following the trend.  I'll support them by carboloading with Kona Brews.

ends up at $36 for one shirt for me.  Unless that thing is made out of Egyptian cotton grown on the steppes of the Himalayas and hand-picked by imported virginal Swedish bikini team members, seems a little steep...

We bought a 6-pack of that last night.  Not for the SUP, but for the toasted coconut (and that fact we really like the kona coffee porter)  We noticed the SUP as an afterthought.

Coconut!  Godo stuff.  Highly recommded beer.

Had a Koko Brown at lunch today, I liked it! I usually like my beer to just taste like beer, but the toasted coco flavor was interesting. Subtle, but nice.

I did order a t-shirt, the 4x6 banner at the resturant looked cool so I went for it!

Brought a 6 to a barbecue. My friends without kids (you know, the ones that still go drinking 3 or 4 times/ week) said that this Brown was "taking the Island by storm." It was pretty darn tasty. I hope it stays in production past the spring.
