Hi guys,

Interesting so far!  3 more days to vote so please login and let us know what you are thinking for your next stick purchase.  The manufacturers are watching, so let them know where you would like them to be spending their R&D dollars.

Thanks!

Hi guys.

Final day to be heard.  As it stands, over 60% percent of our respondants are considering boards under 10'6 (a size range that did not yet exist in production boards even 6 months ago) with under 9'6 being the most sought after single grouping.  Giddyup!

Bill, I opened the poll again,

I have to admit, I have no idea why I put a time limit on it in the first place outside of that it seemed...well...poll-ey.

Anyways, let 'er rip.

I have the SOS blue right now (10'10") and I think the next one will be sub 10'.  Hopefully will be able to try one in Maui this fall.

Hey Pilot,

Welcome to the board.  Drop a note before you come over.  There is a pretty active paddling community over here, and we will be happy to let you check out some smaller gear.

Best,
Randy

Sorry, I can't help you man, my board's not on your list.  There's a guy here in SD (CRAIG) who's making some REALLY short boards.  Try 8'0 on for size! I saw some local guys out on them and freaked.  Not sure how they surfed, but they had no problems paddling and catching waves.  Didn't really get to look at the shape in detail - but I'll keep you posted.

~Aloha~

You are right, we may need an under 9 foot and a under 8 foot category now.  For now please just use the under 9'6 category and leave a note.

Thanks!

I've been building plenty 8' to 8'-6" boards lately.     My next personal board will be 9' Slasher for waves up to 12' faces.

We have an 8'4 and an 8'6 in the works.  The newer models should be very cool in that they will be at more normal widths (26-27.5) and thicknesses.

The only 8'6 and under boards I have seen ridden here (Maui) are the 7'0 x 30' x 5' in Ivan's video (sailboard) and this Sean Ordonez 8'3 Fish many year's back:

Hey Rand thanks for the pics and info..i tried a windsurfing formula board as well 9'x 31" a Fanatic shark. this is the only board i have at the moment so i have to stick with it for now until the dealer here gets some new SUP.As for the rides on this board its ok takes time to catch waves it doesnt have that glide like a true stand  up although its very stable and have rode a few down the line.Let us know if you hear of anything new with shorter boards :)
