SUP General / Re: Dave Parmenter says he's sorry about the whole SUP thing.

Greetings Dorks,

I too regret having invented SUP.  It has indeed become a stain on the previously pristine doily we call surfing.

As you know, I am often thought of as a perfect cuvee of Noam Chomsky and Neil Armstrong (with a lingering note of Ingemar Stenmark).  In middle age I have relaxed humbly into the comfortable knowing that my legacy will long outlive my brief and unfortunate sojourn into the SUP realm.  It was an uncharacteristic mistake.

I refuse most interviews, but should any other publications of high merit (must be at least on par with PilgrimSurfSupply) need to contact me, I will be hosting a Yoga retreat at Lomi Lomi beach for the next week (registration is still open).

This one looks large enough to do some damage.  Very cool that it can work with so many materials.

Bill, how long does it take to knock out a product once the product is fully set up in software?

Admin--I keep noticing how you and Chan have such similar interests.  You guys should meet sometime.

Possibly online, never in person.

Pretty wild when you look at the percentage of Margin Debt to the S&P as a whole.

It was the pencil faces--they scared people. I still see them when I first wake up in the morning. Screaming... screaming.

I did save one pencil and will poke you with it when you return to civilization.

You were not alone. :)  One of the 10 things we failed brutally at last year.

Monsters.  That beast at 2:40 is as big/bigger than any Teahupoo clip I have ever seen...and with the added element of cold.

I have to admit that the idea of a watch that relays basic info to a phone seemed at first uninteresting.  But some of the possibilities that are now being thrown around are pretty cool.

"Apple has now hired employees with expertise in pulse oximetry, vasculature visualization (vein finding), non-invasive glucose monitoring, blood chemistry monitoring , heart/breath rate monitoring, and fitness. Notably, several hires have also had experience with low-profile, non-invasive biosensor devices."

Manufacturing numbers have been tanking in the US and China.  A significantly more reliable snapshot of recent sales and future corporate forecasting than quarterly reports and analyst spin.

A lot of age. they're moving around much too much to SUP surf with magnificent and majestic style like I do. You have to learn to stand still in one place, keep your knees straight, bend at the waist as if you were trying to fart, and then do very slow and carefully considered turns. These guys are a long way from that.

Well put.

Commonly overheard in a pack of _____

Longboarders:  That was far out
Shortboarders: That was rad
Skimmers:  That was dope
SUPers: That was him

I quoted my disappearing post and it was ALIVE! And now it has disappeared into the void again. Why oh why mistah admin?

The two threads with dead pages were removed (found an alternate route to do that).  Those were throwing all kinds of errors.  Please carry on here.

these guys are destined to become very hot surfers if they aren't already.

Agreed. With a good deal of practice they might someday become hot surfers...and if they are persistent, keep training and developing their skills, then possibly with time and age they could be adequate SUPers.

Don't even try to talk about proning or 'it' will be censored.

I like that.  :)

Proner talk is just fine, just please no posts about skimming.  those will be immediately removed.

Beasho had mentioned uploading a corrupted photo to the first thread.  Looks like maybe #2 as well?  We have seen a corrupted photo file do this in the past.  The first pages of those threads are loading fine, just the second pages are choking browsers.

Beasho,

Please downsize your photos to smaller dimensions and view them in a local browser before upload.  Your photos have a long size dimension at above 1200.  That is fairly large for forum use.  The site is set to auto downsize to 800 but if a user uploads a group of bigger ones all at once it can on occasion choke the downsize function and cause corruption.  We have seen this before.  I can delete those on the back end but in the past that action has caused some instability so it is best not to.
