ECsup and I took a trip to Provincetown to meet with the harbormaster to plan logistics at that end for the Cape Cod Bay Challenge. We had a very productive day and had a lot of fun doing it.
Here it is DJ style.
The Mike mobile ready to roll...
A great shot of the Cape Cod Canal as we drove over....proving that timing is everything.
First stop...Hyannis and WCOD to tape a radio show about the event....our second one. We're getting good at this.
I'm definitely not as good as DJ...a big gap in the picture taking. The Pilgrim monument in P-town.
The Norwegian Cruise Lines Dawn was in port. Despite how busy that made an already very busy harbor, Rex, the harbormaster was very helpful and generous with his time.
Lets go fishing....on second thought...maybe not.
Not sure who these lovely old ladies are but they must be well liked.
This is the beach where we'll be landing. Hope the weather is like this on August 9th. Nice SW wind and calm seas.
And appropriately enough...it's right behind the Surf Club restaurant where Mike and I had a great lunch. Very friendly staff...we also made arrangements to have lunch there on the 9th (at least tentatively).
P-town is full of bizarre wierd and wonderful shops and galleries. This isn't at all out of the ordinary.
Some small side streets paved with crushed shells.
This ones for PonoBill.
Backside view of the beach where we'll be landing behind the Surf Club. The Cape Cod Reuben is awesome!
Note the woman siting with her feet in the water with the umbrella. It was hot today but that was still slightly weird...she was there when we sat down...still there when we left.
We found a date for DJ...
The view down Commercial Street.
No visit to P-town is complete without browsing through Marine Specialties.
Sure ....why not?
Our trip through town was primarily to ask shops to hang posters. Folks were very helpful. We left a dozen or so hanging around town.
Time to hit the water....hope the surf is up.
Oooooh....jackpot. Cahoon Hollow...home of the famous Beachcomber Restaurant and party place.
Never did get any good surf picks even though Mike was tearing it up. Had one really great opportunity while I was paddling out and Mike caught a beauty. Coming straight down the line at me with a big tube just behind. Oh well...just too focused on catching some myself.
Mike getting position for the next set.
Only 10 surfers and a surfski out sharing the water with a couple of seals. A bunch of bluefish in the water coming right into the waves with us. Very cool to watch them swim at speed within the wave.
A great day .
