I have paddled the Bark / Surftech DW several times and love it! It's very fast, and catches even little bumps with ease. In larger swell you have to move around a little more that on a Bullet 14 or Naish Glide, but the speed generated in even the smallest of bumps makes that a non issue. I would guess the rocker profile would make this board similar to the Bullet 14v2. I generally liked doing downwind runs on my Bark-Dominator, but this board makes that seem a little silly now. With plenty of stability and a lower rocker profile of this board its even fairly fast in the flats. Making it a great all around board for anyone but the serious elite racer.

Possibly Hobie on Chuck pattersons BOB board? I think it was 2008.

I was able to paddle the 14' carbon pintail. It was very lively feeling with a huge amount of secondary stability. I'm anxious to paddle it more in calm conditions and see what it can really do. It was a little different than advertised but still very fast!

I will be getting my 404 Zeedonk ( Pintail ) this week. The Outpost is not intending to stock the Pintail, but that could change pending the maiden paddle. I think the pintail will offer a much different paddling experience than the squash tail, as it is thinner with much less volume. Either way I'm excited to get the board and paddle it as this is the board I am committed to racing this year.

Update on the June 15 Race schedule conflict. As of right now there are two WPA races scheduled on the 15th of June, both in Michigan. What has happened is The Sprint and Splash race has changed there date from last year, which was held one weekend earlier to the 15th. The problem however is that Third Coast is going into its third year of there race held on the same weekend. So for some reason they switched up there dates and now we have this conflict. For what its worth Ryan at Third Coast is not thrilled this has happened but seems open to the idea of the Weekend double with Third Coast moving there event to Sunday the 16th. I have heard that Dave Schuster is going to contact Ryan to see if he is interested in Changing there race to Sunday. If they do this I would hope they get a strong turnout not only for there trouble but because it a great race! If for some reason a change is not made and this date conflict remains I will have to stay close to home and race the Third Coast race. What are some other thoughts on this? Tony

I think it is possible that another race wil pop up in between TC and the Outpost race. It might not however be a WPA race, which is fine. Last year there was a nice race on Reeds Lake in EGR, so that might be a good window for that race, if they do it again.
As far as the opening weekend double I have FBooked Ryan at Third Coast to see what there plans might be. I have not gotten a response yet.

In talking with the crew at the Outpost they have decided to move there event to September for two reasons. 1. They feel that having a July event strains there resources too much during the middle of there busy summer season. 2. They felt like there needed to be a good late season race to help extend the season for those who might continue on to races like BOP and the Worlds. As a result I think it's fairly likely they will becom the Regional Championship race.
As far as the conflict of the the first two races of the year, I wonder if there is still time to resolve this? I would suspect there may be other options to consider, maybe even shifting one of the races to Sunday. I think shifting the Third Coast race til Sunday might make good sense for those coming from Wisconsin or Illinois to be able to hit both races in one weekend. Just some food for thought. Otherwise, like XLR8 has said it will make for some tough decisions.

I think a new production 14' SIC with steering would be great us here on the Great Lakes. The steering would be very helpful in fighting those waves that want to continuously push us to shore. I like to paddle out as far as possible right from the start as to not have to fight back out all the time, steering would be great for this as well.

We do several downwinders every year in the Grand Haven area. Grand Haven - Muskegon pier, Grand Haven - Pigeon Lake, Muskegon - Grand Haven, Holland - Saugatuck, and others as well. XLR8 here on the forums has done others as well. The more people interested in the area the easier logistics will become. I currently do not have proper downwind board, but enjoy them all the same. Let's connect in the Spring and get some good group downwinders rolling.

I was wondering if this was some kind of mass boycott myself. It seems odd that there are so many top paddlers missing. I am no insider, but I do know enough people that I would think I would have heard some rumblings. It will be interesting to see if something more comes of this. They certainly cannot continue this a World Champiomships with such a poor showing.

Congrats to Chase Kosterlitz for winning the WPA World Championships yesterday in Cabo. But what the heck are all the other top paddlers? It seems very strange that there were very few top guys participating. Anybody know why?

Looks like a much smaller turnout from last year. After traveling home from the battle, I just couldn't take any more time off. I'm bummed I missed it, I love Chattanooga. Last year 3 of us traveled down from michigan with our boards and mountain bikes and had a great weekend.
Thanks for sharing

The " Paddle Diva" needs a little coaching of her own. Sounds like she's teaching people to stand straight legged and to paddle with all arms. I'll pass on her most likely over priced lessons

It's just like a QB magic but different! You can't destroy them, you just have to charge more for them....

I'm 190 and love my competitor. I actually am trying to sell it and buy a new one, currently have fhe tuflite construction and would like tomget the pro elite. I also paddle a Candice which I love in flat water but is a hand full for me in rougher conditions. Keep in mind the Candice is only 3 liters less volume but a little over an inch narrower, makes a substantial difference in stability.
