Any update on how this board rides?

I'm on a 8'6" x 28.5" x 4" and I was wondering if I can make the jump down to 8'1" x 29" x 4.5" Probably very similar as it's only half an inch wider, thicker but 5 inches shorter. Never ridden a Naish so was looking for a ride report on this sweet looking board.

Awesome video!

Just purchased a GoPro5 session, so I may PM you with questions.

Whats the L & W of your board if you don't mind me asking.

Does your wife not like to paddle? Take your kids! I wish someone put me on a paddle board at 8, instead of 38.

Go EARLY. I go @ 5:45am & by the time I'm done w/ a 2-3 hour session, it's off to coach my kids baseball game. If it's Sunday, they're barely awake when I get back. We live close to our school so my wife takes the kids so I'm able to go weekdays as well. There's no better way to start your day then with a morning paddle session. It will lead to a healthy happier life.

So get the family involved. If that doesn't work, try gambling & boozing for a month and if she if likes that addiction better. There's so many other awful things you could be addicted to, she should support you. My wife supports me & everyone is happy.

6 months ago @ age 38. Addicted & upset I wasted the last 10 years not SUS'ing. Paddled in from renting a board on the oceanside, caught my first wave and instantly hooked.

10' to 9'2" to 8'6" and wondering how much lower I can go. I already want a 8'-8'2. Can definitely tell the difference in a wave from each board. Less paddle speed going smaller, but a lot more maneuverable ride.

Some reviews say the session 5 batteries don't last long. Is anyone having this problem w/ the session 5?  Anyone have the 5 black & see the $100 difference?

Awesome vacation video, thanks for sharing! Very entertaining. I've got to stop being cheap & invest in a GoPro5.

Ha Trump effect! Linter, have you tried switching up your boards & going wider than what your used to and how often are you out there? It shouldn't be too hard for you if your ripping it up in great conditions. Guess it is hit or miss but if you paddle out just right of the shores to Scripps on good days & get in at 6:00am, you catch some GREAT surf w/ long rides before the mob gets there.  I go 6:00-9am before it gets too windy & choppy. C ya out there.

It's my first season so I don't know a good winter season from bad but I thought it's been pretty good Dec - Feb. I'm at the shores a few times a week. Are you in the line up w/ everyone or off to the side w/ the rest of the paddlers? I've been told I need to check out other spots such as SanO and Cardiff as they don't really compare to South Mission & La Jolla Shores. I did try to paddle out my smaller board last Sunday but was having problems so I didn't stay out long. Water is getting a little colder but hopefully we get better conditions soon.

Stoneaxe - Your health is more important & hope you get some good conditions soon.

Tourmaline and La Jolla Shores.  Two years ago, they were both fine.  Last year and this year especially not so good, in fact, garbage most of the time.  I just can't figure out how to surf it.  OTOH, some of the local SUP guys seem to have no such problems and actually say the surf has been pretty awesome.  Well, if that's the case, they never better visit RI when it's good, 'cause it'd probably cause em to suffer an instant embolism from the shock of seeing what "pretty awesome" really is and can be.

Man, do I sound angry and bitter or what?

It definitely sucks not being able to hear.  Think I'll look into some head phones w/ low music. That way my ear drums will be protected when  crashing & I can pull them out when conversing on the water.  Think I'll try to stay a little closer to people as well. I tend to be by myself a lot.

Had to research & bump this after this morning....

Towards the end of my session, I wiped out and landed on the side of my face/ear. I immediately try to get back on my board, but all of a sudden I'm disoriented & I have no clue what's going on with my body. Scary as shit.  I couldn't hardly stand so I went to my knees for a minute and felt weak. I immediately laid on my stomach and started paddling in. My ear drum hurt just a little at the time. I was fine as soon as I got out of the water and don't think I did any damage to my ear drum.  Just maybe rattled it.

Anyone use those docs pro plugs to help prevent this and do they work? Or any other suggestions? I had my hoodie off too which probably would've prevented this from happening. But if this is something that happens often, I'll throw some ear plugs in. Which of course has me thinking, if I'm going to start wearing ear plugs I might as well have music.
