These are stock photos but I can send actual photos in interested .Asking 1950.

Some boards have more lateral volume forward of the standing area  adding some stability in the catch phase of the paddle stroke.
The eradicator has more lateral volume behind the standing area adding some stability for surfing or buoy turns , it has less volume forward and cuts through water better.

Different boards do react different for different people at different skill levels in different water. I don't live in an area where I can demo or try a variety of high end race board.

The board I'm considering  is 2hrs away and 1" narrower than I'm used to but has the pro box fin set. Just wanted to know if it did in deed add more stability or be comparable to a 27" wide board.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm 50yrs old 6'1" , 205 lb

I did demo a Blackfish -27 wide I think and felt it slower than the whiplash , awesome board. So I decided to look into the whiplash. I would probably sell the LK and get something tailored to longer paddles in a mix of conditions, maybe a 28 javelin.

The 2016 Whiplash I'm looking at has 286 lt volume
I had an eradicator that was 27 wide which was great in flat conditions but twitchy in side chop etc. It had more volume in the back- wider for stability in buoy turns , less in front- more of a needle type nose . It also had a flat bottom. The whiplash looks like it has more volume in front so it may help with stability in chop

I wanted to get some input on the 2016 whiplash 26w/ Larry Allison pro box fin set vs the 27 wide board. I have a Lahui Kai 14 x27 now and I'm pretty comfy on it due to the design of the bottom. I'm looking at a 2016 Whiplash 14x26 with the 4 fin setup . Does it add enough stability to compare to a 27 wide whiplash? I mostly paddle flatter conditions but sometimes get wind and cross chop . I did demo a 25 wide whip and found it not as steady but it only the had a single fin so I had my mind set on a 27. Thanks

Thanks David John, Ive seen a lot of your videos- very nice.
I'm more experienced with the LK - I haven't had any issues with build quality yet. Just seems a little slow sometimes compared to the eradicator - could be me.

I demoed a 28 jav a couple years ago as my first 14 and found it almost too stable for my conditions so I opted for a 27 wide board. I really liked the jav though. There has been some leftover 2015s on sale and I'm very tempted . Its always nice to have an extra.

Gear Talk / Lahui Kai vs Naish Javelin

just wanted to get an idea of the difference in these 2 boards.
2016 Lahui Kai 14x27 sup atx version and the 2016 Naish Javelin 14x28 gx.
Mainly the performance side of it, Ive paddled both but not at the same time. I feel the LK sometimes feels slower. I had an eradicator which was faster but too jittery in chop so I sold it. Will the javelin be about the same as the LK?

I'm not a racer as of yet.
  Thanks for any advice

Gear Talk / Re: Pipeline / pursuit elite ss 12 6 opinions????

Thanks for all the replys.  I saw a couple of Hobie elite 12 6 in the bcx +c construction @28lbs for sale. They interest me (IM 6'1 and 205/90kg) but I think they are 3-4 years old. Does an older/ new board loose integrity after a while? I like the 14 too but would rather have the flatter rocker. I'm not planning on any downwinders or any races, just wanted a faster touring board to handle choppy conditions when they arise. Thanks

I saw this board online then checked it out locally. 6 oz carbon innegra w/4oz fiberglass over that. Lift sup handle, tie downs on front single concave bottom, slightly sunken deck,275 ltr, grafics are kinda sketchy, extra layer of fiberglass in standing area. Overall I like the shape and it would be good for me for a performance/ touring board but don't know anything about the build quality. I was hoping someone could give me an opinion. I have an Eradicator 14 but too tippy for a casual paddle and choppy conditions. I'm also considering a Hobie 12 6 elite. Thanks

I don't want to mention any brands right now. sorry

Pumped it up to max psi for a week but not sat it in sun. It is in house , haven't used it ,10 degrees here.

First board was 1 1/2" off which was above standard. Second board is 3/4" off. I think any twist isn't ok unless stated in ad and I wasn't told till second board was shipped. Ad didn't state any problems or anything about a twist . They also mentioned problems with the 2016 models in manufacturing and release date will be delayed.

Thanks for the advice

If I look down the length its easy to see the twist.  I just expected a "straighter" product , but I can understand why longer boards are  twisted a little.

If I bought it from ebay for "299.99 special" then all bets are off on quality.

I didn't get the discount for the twist , I was told it was to get rid of old(2015) inventory. It wasn't until they sent the second board when he mentioned the twist being "common".

Im not trying to be picky , I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting one from a bad batch.

I just bought a 126 x 30 isup from a reputable co and it is twisted . If sitting on a level surface it has a 1 1/2 " difference from one corner to the opposite corner. They sent out another one and it is also twisted about 3/4". Everything in the kit seems pretty nice -paddle, leash, pump etc.  I even got it for about 30% off.
The company said that its normal/ ok to be twisted and industry standard is up to 1". I have had other ones and they were not twisted at all. I wanted to get some opinions or what other people have experienced with this. Is this going to affect the performance ? Thanks
