Bought this board new and it is very fast, I just have too many boards right now. My loss your gain!
Black square on the deck is velcro, I can remove it if you would like.

The usual shops I rent from when I'm back in town are carrying far fewer race boards these days. Unfortunately it looks like the business just isn't there for them.
I'm searching a little wider hoping I can find a quality board that is available.
I'm looking for a 14' flatwater race board. 25-26" wide would be ideal. Will gladly pay for the usage. I have raced on everything from Bark Dominators, Bark D2, Starboard AllStar 26", to a Starboard Sprint 14x24.
I will take great care of your board and leave collateral. Water start and a soft sandy finish all inside of Mission bay so very little chance for damage.
Thanks in advance.

Looking to go bigger in the transportation department but I want to make sure I can transport 2-4 SUPs.
For those of you with Chevy Suburbans or Ford Excursion XLs how are the offerings for SUP racks? What do you like and what would you do differently?
Chevy doesn't offer the barn doors anymore so how does the giant lift gate work when you have boards loaded? Ford has the interesting looking half doors with a glass lift gate.....any feedback?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I would like to demo Starboard's high aspect paddles but no one near me has them. I travel to SoCal for work and was wondering who has them in inventory and is willing to let me demo.
I am an experienced paddler so I won't destroy your gear. I am ready to buy, but need to try them out to determine shaft and blade sizing.
I will probably be buying two, a carbon race one for me and one of the tiki's for my wife.
Thanks

Kind of a long shot but I will be in San Diego and want to rent a race board on Oct 12th. I paddled in San Diego for years and have competed in this race before.
The race is flat water with a water start and finish so very little chance for board damage. However, if I damage your board I will pay for professional repairs (Joe Roper or your choice).
I have several years experience, am gentle with equipment, and have race boards of my own....they are just several states away.
I'm 155 pounds and looking to rent a 14 or 12'6 flat water board the narrower the better. My experience is with Barks and Starboard Sprints down to 24 inches wide.
I can pay cash, leave a deposit, etc. I will be bringing a Konihi blade and handle (shaft too if I can fit it on the flight) if you want to try it out you are more than welcome.
You can reach me at 512-496-8179. Thanks in advance.

I don't mean for competitors, I mean for organizers.
Yesterday at the Hanohano the start was an issue. The poor organizers were shouting at people with a bull horn but a large group of paddlers kept creeping forward. By "creeping forward" I mean they were several hundred feet ahead of the start line that was briefed.
There was another group of people hanging back following the instructions. When it became apparent that nothing was being done, they too started forwarded. The organizers I think just gave up and blew the start horn. This resulted in a huge advantage for the first group.
So what can be done? What are organizers to do? They briefed the correct start line and were attempting to enforce it but enough people ignored it to make their attempts seem futile.
Ideas?
-Rope stretched between a buoy and the start boat. Kind of like the start gate at motocross. Might end up with people tangled in it after it drops.
-butts on boards. Everyone sitting until horn sounds.
-paddles in the air.
-jet skis criss crossing in front of start line. Might be difficult especially in a no wake zone.
-other ideas?

Glad to see the new sub forum.
I'm looking for advice on cool weather gear for stand up paddling. My usage will be physical training during a SoCal fall/winter (worst case scenario 50 degrees). This will be flat water inside the bay so I'm not looking for survival gear. Rain is rare around here so I don't need it to be waterproof.
My ideal would be something I can sweat my butt off in while training for racing, but will keep me warm enough on a 1-2 hour paddle. I think the biggest dangers are injuries due to cold muscles and/or not being able to train if I don't have something to keep me warm.
thanks!

I know more is better, but how do you measure and compare between paddlers? Especially if they are of different height?
I think the most accurate way would be the angle of the shaft when the blade is fully in the water. While accurate for an observer to the side (or a video camera on a dock), this would be difficult to measure by the paddler himself.
The easiest would be to measure it in inches. Length of reach (forward of toes?) could be measured. Then divide by height for a ratio and compare.
Of course I try all the little tricks like tape on the nose to see where I catch and try to go further, but how much is ideal? What are the pros at?

I have surfed in SoCal for the last 10 years. Just recently got a SUP and normally frequent Mission Bay. Work sometimes takes me to North County and I would like to find a place for some flat water mileage on the way. Preferably something with nice scenery. So I drove around Carlsbad lagoon today looking but found some issues. There were signs saying they require a $40 annual vessel sticker. I'm fine with that especially if the money goes to the environment. While researching the sticker I found this map: http://www.carlsbadca.gov/services/departments/parksandrec/aquatics/Documents/AGUA_Hedondia_map.pdfwhich seems to indicate SUPs are confined to the end of the lagoon. Is this correct? Are there any other lagoons in the area that allow SUPs? Ideally I would like a long run where I can paddle into the wind, maybe check out the beach break, then paddle back to my truck. Thanks in advance.
