It's up on Armstrong's website, https://www.armstrongfoils.com/ha195/ Now to see how they did.

I saw a mention over on Seabreeze of an Armstrong HA195 tail and that he had preordered, but no other info anywhere else on the web that I could find. Anyone over heard anything about it, seen any pictures, or ???

I rode a HA925 with the V-Tail and it was WAY too squirrely for me, so I'm thinking I'll wait for the HA tail to pull the trigger on a HA front wing.

I noticed that the Armstrong FG boards are about 15l or so less than similar sized boards of other brands. I'm currently on a Fanatic 5'4" 95l and it's super easy to ride, but the mast box is way too far back for the Armstrong foils. And it's heavy. The Arm FG is the same width, slightly shorter, and 75l. I'm wondering if, at 85kg, I should go with the 75l? I don't really want to go with the 88l because it's an inch longer and wider than my Fanatic. Conditions are typically steady 15kt+ and if it hits 19+ I'll go to my 45l Takuma.

I'm currently on a 95l 2021 Sky wing. I love most every aspect about the board except for the weight and the mast track placement. For Armstrong foils even with the mast all the way forward and the screws flipped my back leg is getting gassed. For 2022 they mentioned that they moved the mast tracks "slightly" forward. I'm thinking about grabbing the 75l pre-preg version, but am wondering if the I'm going to run into the same issue with not enough forward adjustment.

Has anyone tried the new version with an Armstrong foil and/or compared it to the 2021 version to see where the tracks are?

Gear Talk / HyperNut BC vs. Kazuma Tanto
« on: October 04, 2017, 10:33:32 AM »
Any reviews by people that have ridden both boards? There are one of each up for sale that I'm looking at putting a foil on. Both are 7'4" and 105-6L. FWIW I'm 88kg (195lb in old money) and currently paddle a Speeed at 112l and 27 3/4 wide so I think the stability will be OK.

Foil SUP / Chinese foils hitting the market.

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/New-Coming-Carbon-Fiber-Hydrofoil-Water-Wings-for-Foil-Sup-High-Strength-carbon-Hydrofoil-Thrust-Surf/1967603_32832517441.html

And really looks like they've nailed a bunch of good points. Plate mount, nice fat wing, short mast, GoFoil style fuselage and all carbon. Doesn't appear to be a blatant rip-off of any one design, just a combination of all the features I want in a SUP foil.

Foil SUP / Tuttle Box vs. Plate Mount
« on: April 06, 2017, 09:16:23 AM »
Looking to mod a board and take the plunge, but trying to figure out a mounting solution. Slingshot, GoFoil, and a couple others use the Tuttle box while Lift, Horue, and Moses favor tracks and plate mounts.

I'm kind of favoring the plate mount so I can also use the same setup for low wind kiting, but is there any significant advantage of one over the other?

Foil SUP / Lift Foils Releases SUP Foil.

And it is dead sexy.  8)

https://www.liftfoils.com/products/foil-surf-sup

It makes sense to have the wing tail and fuselage all one piece from a strength perspective, but not sure how it is from a replace/fix perspective.

Also, does the dual (what appear to be standard fin boxes) setup make more sense than the Tuttle box?

Foil SUP / Is GoFoil the Only Option?
« on: January 05, 2017, 09:31:07 AM »
Like the title says, I've been researching SUP specific foils and the only available option seems to be the Go Foil. Horue mentions a prototype, but no info is available. Naish has theirs, but availability is zero and there's no way in hell I'm dropping $5k on it because it only comes with its own board. Are there any other options out there?

Downwind and Racing / Help Selecting DW Fin For Falcon.
« on: December 28, 2016, 10:04:38 AM »
I just picked up a 2015 Fanatic Falcon, it came with a 10" ABS dolphin fin and the board is WAY too tight. It's very hard to turn and has a tendency to broach on bumps. I'm new to DWing but am fairly experienced SUSing. I searched all I could but most of the DW fin recommendations I could find are for weedy conditions and swept back fins. Which, being in Hawaii, I don't need. One of the local shop guys recommended a more vertical fin, but didn't have any specifics. Maybe the FCS HI DW or Lahui Kai fin? I'm loath to drop ~$100 on a fin that I hate.  :'(

Gear Talk / Hand Tying Leashed DIY?
« on: November 19, 2016, 09:16:16 PM »
So, I have a bunch of calf and ankle leashes that I really hate, I'm super annoyed when I jump up on my board and have the leash wrapped around my leg and I want to change them out to waist leases. But, what knot is the proper one to use/ how do I properly tie the tube to the to the end line? I have tons of of end line and heat shrink, but how do the experts tie the two together to make a clean and strong joint? I've searched and searched, but this seems to be a bit of a secret black art that no one wants to share.
I can easily try different knots, but there really has to be a "right" way to do it since guys have been doing this for over 40 years.
Help a brotha' out.
