Gear Talk / Re: 2012 JP SUP Race 14" x 28" Any experiences with this board?
« on: February 27, 2013, 07:02:48 PM »
Yes, I am using the Race for Flatwater to minor chop and  I am using the Sportster for DW and any race that goes through a bunch of different conditions. In Florida, alot of our races start in bay areas out inlets into open water and back. The conditions change alot and the Sportster handles the changing conditions the best for me. I weigh 190lbs FYI. JP has a true DW board in the works for 2014. I still have to take photos of the Sportster and the Race side by side. It is raining in FL today so I was unable to get the shots.

I rode for Starboard before I came over to JP Australia, The 2013 JP Race is much faster then the 14' Ace Pro and more stable. I have not paddle a Fanatic so I can not compare it to one. JP, Starboard, Fanatic are all made in the Cobra factory so construction is similar. My 14' Brushed Carbon JP weighs 25lbs w/o the fin. JP has kept there outlines the same as the 2012, but have been tweaking the bottom curves and entry. They have lowered the volume and paired it with a good all around fin made of g-10 and nice swept angle. The board tracks really well and bouy turns on a dime, this is something I struggled with on my Starboards (partially user error). The board excels in flat to small chop and for the 2014 prototypes they have added some dome to help shed water away from the standing area. If it gets rough out, I switch to the Sportster which is not as fast but handles mixed cond. better and surfs well. Hope this helps, I will take some photo's of the 2 boards and try to load them tonight.

That JP Australia is the 2012, it does paddle well. The 2013 JP Australia Race is a huge improvement over the previous year and one of the fastest boards I have paddled in flatwater. JP Australia also just came out with the Sportster which is a user friendly race board that is excellent in all conditions. JP Australia has stepped up their game and is taking the input from riders and putting it into their new race boards.
I do Rep. and am a rider for JP Australia/ NP Paddles.

Carib, when you get back to Delray we have to paddle again, most of the races in S. Fla are associated w/ a charity like Surfer for Autism.

In the DROP program you are not collecting your pension, you are only work those years of the DROP at your hourly rate. Cities are no longer contributing to your pension at that time.  If someone was to make 74,000 dollars in overtime at an rate of 75 dollars an hr. they would have to work 41 24hr shifts, that city needs more people or should look at other options.

My intention is to surf, but would like to be able paddle away from the clusters of people who chose to not surf any of the other sand bars down the beach.

I'm leaning towards PSH but I don't have any shops that have the 10' or 10'6 to demo, they only have an 11' waa which is alot of board. I would really like to try the 10'waa.
