Worked pretty darn good. I believe the new owner of ULI Boards has the patent.

Love Ben and his Jersey boy stoke & love for novelty waves. Tanker surfing is so rad. In 2012 my bro Ken & I did the Paddle for Humanity in Austin for ULI Boards and surfed tanker waves with Capt James and Tanker Surf Charters in the Houston ship channel. Talk about long rides! It was sick.

Got invited a a couple live feeds by friends who were there but they were pretty poor quality. Good recap by Chris Parker here http://www.supracer.com/2019-red-bull-heavy-water-casper-steinfath/?fbclid=IwAR1IiWu6fmg95MC-5beS55M1ymPZ10QZZekZmEV7LqxWIYXa293i8fdwhCI

"Hydroslick Edges" doesn't exactly roll off your tongue like Wiki Rail either

Great video Cook!!!!- Always appreciate you taking the time to film and post your adventures.

that day at San O looked near perfect.  The kind of waves sups were designed for (Just dont tell that t the longboarder who you kinda snaked  ;D ;D ;D ;D

That was me on the longboard I wanted to share a wave with fellow LBI NJ wave rider. Was a beautiful day but man North County gets it so much better in the winter. Glad you scored Marc !

Wow the Hanohano did not disappoint.  There were 398 paddlers on short course and it was quite a scene. Thank you to Tall Dude for loaning me an unlimited board to race - it was pretty fun but I just checked my times from 2015 & 16 and I was 30 to 45 seconds faster on a SUP Surfboard (inflatable). Danny Ching won the overall SUP but Rob Rojas put on a great performance on his Brawner unlimited taking 4th overall SUP. I love how he doesn't need any part of the draft train.

The Hanohano was the first mainland paddle event to include SUP in 2006. At one point a couple years ago there were about 400 SUP competitors and over 700 paddlers total. This year looks like epic SoCal weather and the 4.5 mile flat water short course is a lot of fun for novice and pros alike. The venue at Bonita Cove has a sandy beach and it great for demos. It's only $25 to enter and the shirts are always keepers. There's a great raffle too. I'll be there under the KeNalu tent with some display product and will be selling some greatly discounted new ULI Boards (the 10' Ponto and an 11' version). We'll have ULI branded leashes by Stay Covered for $15, and some great deals on 3 pc paddles, travel bags and pumps.

SUP General / Re: Shark Eyes Deterrent Stickers

Got them on a longboard too and often sit way outside and stand up between sets and look around and not one sighting since using the 👀.

has anyone here can tell us that this sticker actually work? A video evidence would be a good start.

I got some Shark Eyes about a year ago and have them on a couple boards. I regularly surf a known sharky break and still see them breach offshore but have not seen one cruise under my board as I had a few times a year in the past. Could be the sharks, could be me, who knows. I dig them though & think they look cool.

SUP Safety / Re: Drowning in N. County San Diego

Current was really ripping through there as seen in this video

That vid is gnarly. Looks like the lifeguards cut the leash. So preventable had they just kept clear of that part of the lagoon.

Real popular spot for flat water paddling but the tide swing at the full/new moon creates a strong current at I know it’s caught a couple experienced paddlers off guard. In this case the leashes don’t save lives.  https://fox5sandiego.com/2018/11/26/woman-drowns-while-boating-in-popular-north-county-lagoon/

++1 on Creek’s response. I hope I can take gas like that when I’m 70 !

1.) Been using Stay Covered for years. Owner is a personal friend from the prone paddleboard world and truly lives the life traveling and meeting dealers. I got with an 8’ cause they all stretch. https://staycovered.com
2.) River SUP yes surf no but my choice would be Gath https://gathsports.com/
3.) No on the PFD but the Jeff Clark Inflatable Surf Vest by Quatic is pretty nice. You don’t have to charge the big stuff - I wear mine foiling and I know a guy with a heart condition that wears one in the surf. https://www.quaticapparel.com/inflatable-surf-vest
