Whoopee.
I was sitting at Kanaha looking at piddly surf trying to talk myself out of paddling out. The offshore wind was cleaning the waves up, but I know how hard it can be to get into waist high mush when it's blowing ten knots up the face. My cell rang--Bill Foote--my board is ready. Saved me from a frustrating session.
As you all know I've been very patient, and only camped in Bill's yard and threw tantrums for a short while. Worth the wait of course. What gorgeous work this guy does.

Before pad. You can kind of see the bamboo foot reenforcement in the middle of the deck

Yum. Mine looks longer, but it isn't. It also looks narrower, and it is. Both of these boards are quite a bit thicker than the usual Maliko 14--because Bill and I are both lardasses.

My pad is seafoam green, but it's a bit lighter than I had in mind. I might airbrush the pad with some green dye. Have to test the effect first.

You can see my other new Footie on the jeep--son of Gecko. Great board.
The proof is in the pudding, Larry and I did a semi-flatwater run from La Perouse to Makena Landing. Choppy and a lot of groundswell and shore bounce from the lava cliffs. The board was great. I don't think I have the right fin on it yet, I tried a 14" Future Downwinder fin. The board didn't track well with it, I'll try that fin again in a real downwinder, but I'm also going to get a conventional raked low aspect fin.
I can't wait to get this board into real swells, it's stable, light and fast. Whoopee.

Beautiful board. I love the yellow. The light foam green pad looks nice. I love those X trac pads too. I wish they weren't the most expensive pads on the planet though >:(

Whats the weight?

Wow thats some gorgeous stuff. PB yours is thicker than 6"? With a tail pulled in like so its still really stable? I am glad you guys posted nice pics of this board because its really growing on me. Is it possible to get more pics of the under carriage? I would want to see more tail volume. Aloha

I'll shoot some better pics and weigh the thing today. It's very light, so light that I was really worried about it blowing off the jeep even in very light wind. I'm going to have to set up straps in advance like we do in the gorge to carry this thing safely.

Man those things look like theyd be fast! Looks like they can double as a big wave gun

First board I've ever been on where I can hear the tail slap when a swell passes under it. I thought I had a whale behind me until I figured out the timing of the noise. It's got volume back there. I can stand way back and it still feels stable and lively, and the nose stays close to the surface. The V in the nose works like gangbusters too. Punch it into a swell and the nose pulls out quickly with no side skewing.

Very nice looking raceboard!

I heart that dog!
(oh yeah, nice board!) ;)

Hey PB.. did you ever get the weight on that pretty new board?
-
I heart that dog!
(oh yeah, nice board!) ;)
He's a good'un. spends his life between ten to fourteen inches from Diane's knee, unless there's food somewhere. Sausages are his God. Right now he's staking out a porkchop that's supposed to be my dinner.
Tracy--no, not yet. Surf's been too good.

Suhweet!

24.5 pounds with pad and fin. That's surprising, I figured it would be heavier. Bill pretty much refuses to build me an ultralight board, says I'm too hard on equipment. Geez.
