The camera always makes the waves look smaller than they really are.
Double ankle high for sure.
I really like those "non-surf" days, especially on glassy water like that.

Nice video. Good to see some "small waves" and how your new Quest handles them. Now those waves are a lot like the waves I usually find on the upper Texas coast around Galveston which is the closest place for me to surf.
BTW, just curious. If you don't mind me asking, your partner's white colored board. What is the make, model, length and width of it?

The white coloured board is a 2016 Starboard Blend 11'2" x 30". The Starboard Tiki was sanded back and replaced with a boxing kangaroo that represents the North Melbourne Football Club aka the Kangaroos.

Perfect size boards for waves like that. I loved my Starboard blend...foolishly sold it...had the 2008 model and sold it to a young lady as her 1st board in 2010. I was interested in going short at the time and used the proceeds to buy my 9-0. Now I surf mostly my 10-4.... :P

The white coloured board is a 2016 Starboard Blend 11'2" x 30". The Starboard Tiki was sanded back and replaced with a boxing kangaroo that represents the North Melbourne Football Club aka the Kangaroos.
Thanks for the info on the board. Since I sold my Hobie 12'2" this past Sunday, I have room for another sup. I thought the white colored board (Blend) in the video looked narrow and I figured it was either 31" or 30" wide in width since I was comparing it's width against DJ's 32" wide Quest. This is why I asked since the white colored sup caught my eye.
If I decide to get another board, I'm looking at boards which are 31" and 30" wide since I'm 5'8" tall and 150 (holiday eating) pounds at the moment. I was thinking of a 10'-10'6" in length board for a little flat water cruising since my Hammer 8'11" x 31" was specifically designed for sup surfing although it does fine on flat water. I can balance my Hammer on flat water very easily. I think I can balance on a 30" wide board, but I'm not sure. The only sup dealer closest to me is 250 miles away, but he doesn't have any sups in a 10'-10'6" length with a 30" width so I'm out of luck for a demo test ride.

Took skill even to stay on those little mushers. A smaller board or less experienced rider couldn't have hung in, I think.

Wing, check out the 2017 Starboard Drive. It's a 10'5" board that has been widened this year from 30" to 31" (and nose rocker dropped).

I've already checked out the new 2017 Starboard Drive. It's 10'5"x31"x4.3" @ 173 liters to concentrate the 2017 Drive more to surfing. At my light 150 pound (now) physical weight, I "think" I would prefer the OLD Drive's specs of 10'5"x30"x4.1" @ 156 liters.
I don't want to hijack this topic thread so I'll probably start a new topic because I have found another brand of sup which I have never heard of, but one of their models specs are very close to the OLD Drive's specs.
