Three stages of the Maliko 14.. Block, blank, milled...solid core, all carbon, bamboo veneer deck..
-
Ok Bill, you have us all in suspense,......more pics please
-
Maliko 14' looking stealthy.. Vacuum laminated and ready for inserts ( fin box and leash plugs ).... At this stage the weight is 15.75 lbs... Looking for a finished weight of under 18 lbs...Deck patch is bamboo veneer...
-
Wow, impressed you're dropping weight. Wasn't your original about 21 pounds? Switched glassing factory too?
-
Same factory.. Higher quality foam... left a layer of cloth off the bottom..
-
Bill San, how wide? Let me try it. I'm of the mind that light is right. Those few pounds are huge.
-
This one is 14' x 25.5'' x 5.25'' with a target weight of 18 lbs with pad....Light is right...
-
wow
-
What do you think about just redcapping the carbon and sanding it.
-
I keep thinking I wish I could have brought home admins Maliko after using it in the downwind showcase. Was that one 27.5 wide? I was surprised how stable it was for me.
-
SwwwwwwwEEEEEEET!
-
Awww man! That is EXACTLY what I want for Christmas (last Christmas!). ;D
My Maliko 14' is the fastest thing I've paddled downwind. Period. The only thing that I can think to improve is the weight. Mine is not bad; around 27 lbs with pad and fin, if I remember correctly.
But 18 lbs? Cheeeehuuuuu!!! ;D :o ;D
-
Stoneaxe.. Randy's board was 27.5'' or 27.25'' Jill Rigg's, Jeremy"s wife is now the proud owner of that Maliko 14' and has been seeing plenty of water time...
-
I'm still amazed how stable it was. I absolutely loved that board. Shawn Vec made me a nice board based on what I remembered of that one but didn't capture the same magic. Maybe one of these days. Are you still sending boards out to Rick Romano?
-
Still sending boards out all over...These new Maliko's are going to be slippery...
-
are these for sale?
-
They are for sale on a custom order basis....
-
Excuse my ignorance; I am just beginning to learn about this class of boards. Is this a downwinder or is it also suitable as a race board in light or moderate conditions? How fast would it be paddling upwind in some chop or short period waves with wind less than about 5 or 10 knots? (165 lb /75 kg rider)
-
Downwind planing hull...
-
Finished board came in at 19.23 lbs....
-
Very nice Bill.
She's going to fly on that board.
-
Kathy and I did a run today and yes she was flyin ;) That board was VERY light :o I let her tension the straps!
