Incredible coverage - very exciting to watch. Good commentary too. This really makes SUP a spectator sport, it's that good. Congratulations to all involved.

Pretty good coverage online!  Caught a few heats of the pro qualifiers and there is some serious talent out there.

Was surprised to see that the Open Technical race was so short - winners finished in under 12 minutes.

Attention span. SUP racing is good in little bits unless you have drama like a major crossing but I liked the short format, myself.

Top ten of the over 60. I had a great time and a crappy race. Fell off all over the place and then got run over by the leading women who had started two minutes behind. Oh well. Next year I'll train some the week before and not spend all the time surfing. Of course, I say that every year.  Surf was good. I finished my race, watched a few semi final pro men races, and then bailed to San Onofre.

Distance race tomorrow. I planned on switching from the six-mile to the three, but I had Tiramisu for dessert, so I'm back to six.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Short race for sure. So you pay $135 + travel/lodging/food/drinks to paddle for 15 minutes. For an extra $50 you get to paddle an extra 3 or 6 miles the next day. Yeah let's do that again next year.

Good thing the community of people and rest of the event are fun. Keeps 'em coming back.

I see your point. But if you like paddling, then racing isn't the way to go. Racing is for people who like competing. If you want to paddle then just go paddle. If you want to compete, then go pay a fortune to line up with a load of strangers whose aim is to put a hole in your precious board, and get your ass kicked by a 14 year-old girl. It's a simple choice.

If you are a competitive type then only paddling with others will do. That's what you are paying your money for, not time on water.

What board is Fiona Wylde on?  It doesn't look like an Allstar.

I heard through the grapevine that Fiona is riding a previous year's Starby.

Nice PB.  Don from HR is here visiting so we ended up surfing Kanaha early in total slop (I stupidly went prone and had a man o war wash over me while paddling and ended up with some pretty nice stings). Then we watched a little of the race - Marcia watched a LOT of it - and went to Kihei for an amazing run with wind in the 30's. Don's first open ocean downwinder and he did great.

Wish we could have watched more. Love DK's narrating the race, super cool. Maybe we'll look for you in the distance race tomorrow. You're not going to wear something fashion-faux pas are you? Nevermind, I'll look for a guy with an orange strap cap and wildly colored compression wear.

Ah, I wish I'd pulled the trigger on San O. I got a few at the venue but nothing like I'd have gotten over there. Next year, indeed.

As to the short race and the money, don't mention that to an Olympic sprinter or an amateur drag racer. ;)

yes, looks like a 2015 Allstar. Much less volume nose.

I continue to be dubious about boof noses precisely because I find the increased frontal surface area (as seen from front) is a brake when punching through waves. if only just upwind waves.  So I'm very curious when I see choices like that! She's one of their top racers so it certainly is a choice.

I like the nose of the JM board out there. Smart. Doesn't look stable though.

Mo Freitas, just making it look easy! That's always the trick. Just awesome.

Kai, Conner and Danny are silky smooth but you can still tell they are paddling as if their lives depended on it.

Why was the Mistral team rider, Seychelle, paddling a Mistral board?

Maybe her board didn't arrive. Or maybe could it be because the one thing that their all-waters board, the Equinox, does not do well is surf...

Anyone know the real reason?

No kidding.
Mo was so Chill
Quite a different Heat from the preceding one.

I had the fan on and my feet up watching the Event.

The coverage was in my opinion better that watching it at the Event..
Nothing like the vibe at the Event though..
