Help with Werner Fuse

Just picked up a used Werner Fuse paddle that is way too long for me.  I managed to get the handle out of the shaft so I can cut it to a better length.  The problem is that I am still playing around with what paddle length is best.  I have read about people using hot glue on some carbon paddles to temporarily set the handle in place.  Will this work with the Fuse?  Will something like the Ke Nalu adjustable handle fit on the Werner?  Is there a better option?

I have also read about problems Werner had with handles breaking.  Not sure how old this paddle is.  Should I consider a different handle?  How do I know what size will fit this shaft?

I got a new paddle recently and cut down my older Werner Fuse for my wife.  Impressed that you got the old handle off without damaging it. I had to order a new handle from Werner.  It was kind of a pain because they won't send it to you directly, you have to order it through a dealer. With shipping it was around $50. The up side is the new handle is carbon fiber and makes the paddle noticeably lighter than the original plastic handle. Don't think the Ke Nalu handle will work as the Werner shaft is wider.  Hot glue is fine for attaching the new handle, so maybe you can incrementally shorten it to your most comfortable length.

My experience with Werner handle issues was long ago. The handle that broke was the plastic one, just repetitive stress on the plastic was the problem...handle came off in my hand in the middle of the 1st CCBC. Can't believe they still make it such a pain to get a replacement.

I wouldn't bother with epoxy. Setting the handle with hot glue isn't temporary...just allows for future change.

Go with the carbon handle and use hot melt glue only.
