Strange shape inflatable iSUP
« on: March 27, 2016, 03:05:33 PM »
Hi

I'm a beginner - 75kg  (165 pounds), 6ft1 - looking for my first board - inflatable and low cost.  One option I've found is this (I live in Italy):

http://www.bigamma.it/nautica/tavola-sup-gonfiabile-big-mama-11-6-pagaia-in-fiberglass-zaino-pompa-manometro

Google will translate, but it's a 11'6 single fin made by a company that does kayaks - it's a just a really odd shape that seems quite unique.  I've found it online for €500 - any thoughts?

Mainly flat / touring / all round but unlikely wave riding.  I really only want to spend €5-600.

Thanks in advance!
Bruce

Looks kind of ordinary, probably chinese, six inches is good, that will make it fairly rigid. Twenty pound recommended pressure is also good. For flat water--you'd like the board to be fairly rigid. I'd say you've got a winner for the money.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

PonoBill said it all, good for the money. But you'll might have to buy a new paddle.

Thanks - that's kindof what I thought.  I guess for €100 or €150 extra I can go with a safer / slightly better known / reviewed option, but it's still in a sweet price point for sure - and is comforting that it's made by a kayak company (albeit fairly small).

If I can find this Brunotti board cheap enough I'll nab it http://islandboardshop.co.uk/products/brunotti-tarik-sup

Appreciate the input!  :)

Grazie!  Thanks!  Will see if the budget stretches.  Now to find some nice places to paddle in North Italy ...

Absolutely!  It's a little far from where I am (Tortona, Piemonte) , but not impossible at all - all the lakes are gorgeous, and the Ligurian coastline isn't too bad either - looking forward to the warmer weather ...
