New Maliko video
« on: August 13, 2015, 11:05:06 AM »
By Jeremy Riggs.  These are the regular paddlers that go on a consistent basis.  All are among our highest caliber group that live here.  The gal in the yellow shirt is on a 14'.  She's 115 and all muscle.  Some great footwork by Jeremy on his very narrow board.  23 or 24 ... Cove will know.  Cove is in that high powered group.  I really enjoy seeing a pack in the frame and like how he edited deck mount and hat mount together.

Not sure but I think JR's board is 23". Kathy (in the fluorescent yellow top, on the yellow 14') normally rides a very similar 17' board to JR's - in fact, it is his old board. Her 14' board is really cool, super light and with her riding it, keeps up with the 17's.

Conditions were not very good yesterday and I struggled. But, watching these other guys is fun. They catch every little bump and surf it. Jeremy's foot work is really cool to watch. Scott is able to do similar stuff and the speed these guys carry down a run, even on a marginal day, is just amazing.

Such a great video!  Jeremy's foot work is so freaking smooth and smooth is fast.  Thanks for sharing HM.  We need to go this weekend!

I woulda loved to have been out there but my gal has been under the weather.  She did a visit to where she grew up in Indiana and got some lyme disease type of deal.  It got bad but she's on antibiotics now and improving rapidly.  I'll be out in the water soon enough.

At any rate I would have had to bust my butt to keep up with those guys!

Great footwork. Both Jeremy and Kathy. Shes so smooth it looks like the board moves under her on rollers. I love the shape of those Foote Malikos, I might have to get Bill to build me a big one.

Really can appreciate the balance - cross stepping - and high quality skill level.  His steering mechanism looks so easy to turn as he stays powered in the groove -> maybe his batten is more flexy than what they put on production boards.

TG is in town and may put on a clinic up in Howe Sound if there is wind on Sunday.  Would be good for anyone interested from this area - understand that there are a bunch of racers signed up already.  Today was excellent with a solid steady 25 kts.

Jeremy used non-rudder boards for ages, and when he finally got a rudder board he was instantly the master. I keep my toe on my rudder as much as possible, but since Jeremy has so much non-rudder experience, he's comfortable off the rudder and anywhere on the board. Scott Trudon does the same thing. All over the place on the board and then blips the rudder at just the right time. Marvelous.

Awesome. So good to see all the action. I like the shots from behind the pack looking forward. Those give the sensation of speed and bump-running.

Kathy is on a Foote Maliko? Sweet. Looks like it turns nicely. Width? Weight?

Does Bill evolve the shape or it's stayed the same all this time?
