info on the Naish raptor?
« on: April 04, 2015, 04:15:08 AM »
So I guess my board addiction came back with a vengeance.

Does any one have info on the new raptor line?

My guess is it'd be great on the wave.
But not nearly as good at getting in-and-out of the surfzone, as the Penetrator.

Oh some nice links there.

I wonder how much of that is inspired by Iggy still. I have no idea of course, but the local shop where telling me how he used work on these outrageous shapes that they could not see come into production because they did not look like boards at all. Square and butt nosed boards. He had this 6'6'' longboard-ish shape that was awesome to surf. This one has a much more straight and modern outline tho, but anyways.

I like the look of those raptors... :-)

$2,499.00 With honey comb quad fins and a board bag. OUCH!  :'(
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thats carbon right? Even so, I'd get two customs for that price. I'm betting it's still a good chunk of change cheaper than SB's version.

Problem with the Penetrator is you're always caught on the inside.

Rough price tag, but the construction looks expensive.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

The real advantage of the Raptor comes when you put it into the board bag.  With the Penetrator, you've got to be really careful with the zipper.

I got the LE version of the 7'10'' x32 Hokua from last year, and the board feels solid. Had I known the raptor would come out I might have held off a bit, but what can you do.

The board just looks nice, and I am liking the width on the middle version. :-)
